New puzzle for you all. Just got my car today, and nav works fine exceept there is no voice. It pretends that it is going to say something, as the music volume goes down around the time I would expect it to tell me something, but no talking. Even when I request a repeat of the last command there is a drop in music volume, but no talking.

Any thoughts?

I'm going to go check the Nav website if I can find it, but any info would be great. Thanks :)

mmm ... sounds like someone forgot to plug something in  have you checked the volume under setup? ;) Even at minimum you should still be able to hear something but its worth checking

Puck,
Make sure the nav volume is up to a diserable level. Mine was so loud at first it seemed as though the thing was screaming at me. Congrats on new MCS.

Thanks to both of you. Yup, checked volume... had it cranked all the way. Nothing. I was wondering about reinstalling the software. I haven't even looked at the DVD's, but I suspect that rather than hardware, simply because the volume is altered. Almost as if the thing has laryngitis. ... it was rather cold and rainy today  Damn! might be a virus!:eek:

Hmmmmmm, could be a bad DVD. Fix a hot tottie and down it quickly, then remove the DVD and reinsert after a few minutes. If that doesn't work have another hot tottie and try again in the morning, and if does work have another hot tottie.
You might try resetting everything from the "Country" down just to make certain. . . . then have another hot tottie and call the MINIdoc in the morning.

Thinking about ways to trying to isolate the problem ... set the speed warning to something very low and then exceed that speed, you should hear a bong type sound as a warning, this might at least let you know the system is connected

Having said that I have found the speed warning to not necessarily go off everytime I exceed the selected speed  something to try I suppose

Sounds like a missed hookup I am supprised that your MA did not catch it when he or she showed how everything worked on your MINI... Keith spent well over an hour with me going over every littl detail... even down to how the tricky 'memory seat position ' works
how far away is your dealer? do not forget to make a big thing out of the lack of a british voice :D if we all get on their case then there is a chance of getting this fixed. see this thread http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55841

the seats will return to theposition you have them set to if you push them back into position with the squab before you flip the back rest back into position... but if you do it the other way round by flipping the backrest up first you will loose the 'memory' of the for and aft position of the seat.

Got a little help from the dealership, but not successful. Service tech there told me about the Nav Min function on the HK, but it didn't make any difference. It only hissed slightly louder when the voice should have been speaking. I have the feeling the volume would have been painfully loud at this point if it had kicked in. :)

Question is, is there a number I can call or website I can use for tech support? Wasn't able to find anything with google, but thought one of you might know.

just Ask MINI 1 866 275 6464 and do not let them give you the Porkie about the Nav voice change being due to some 'software Conflict' with the US version map... be firm in wanting the English voice reinstated with the next Software Rev...

Have you tried the Magic reset fix? disconnect the Battery and connect the Positive cable to ground for a moment... this will reset the system but my bet is either a loose connection or a duff unit... how far away is your dealer? this is what warranty service is for
