Welcome sevra!! So glad to see you joining us. I saw your posting in the August group about Lou Lou, and felt devastated just reading about it. :( What a nightmare! Did you ever get any more information on what happened?
I'm glad you're joining us in the October group. Hope NWMINI's treating you right! When's your new build date?

I haven't gotten any specifics yet (still feeling ambivalent) but the website status just changed this morning to Awaiting Transport and I'm getting excited again in spite of myself! :)

Sevra,
Your new MINI deserves love too! Hang in there - it'll be here SOON! :D

(p.s. My husband says if I'm going to write "girly stuff" I should get my own login :p )

Wow - great looking car! Love that solar red!
Looks like you brought a crowd to your MINI pick-up. Did you fit everyone in there??

...you can stuff a body or two in the trunk, especially if you fold the rear seatbacks.

But, actually, I just came with the two girls in the pic (my wife and her friend), so we easily fit in the car on the way back.

The rest of the folks are the most wonderful people from the Global Imports MINI in Atlanta who were helping us for the past three months and made this car purchase a very enjoyable experience. :D

This is my first post. My Mini just finished production on Halloween. Not sure if thats good or bad. Its now waiting for a boat. I got a MCS...
Pepper White/black roof mirrors, and stripes
Black cloth
Anthracite dash, and headliner
Cold weather package
LSD
Harmon Kardon
HIDs
Armrest
Trip Computer
I'm very anxious to get this thing. I've got more Mini parts collecting in my garage than I know what to do with. My wife tells me that I retarded for having bought 3 sets of wheels for a car I don't have yet.

Welcome to MINI2, Gareno! That looks like a nice spec; PW/B is a classy look.

Now comes the really tough part -- waiting for your MINI to finish travelling to you. :D Have you discovered what ship you're on yet?

And with regards to your wife thinking you're nuts, rest assured that most of us here have spouses that think we've totally "lost it". :p My wife wants to charge me a $1 everytime I even say the word "MINI".

Personally, I think waiting & agonizing about your MINI is all part of the initialization ritual... :D

My MA has informed me that our MINI has cleared through the VPC and is now heading west on a train. It should arrive here in about a week's time. Under two weeks to go!

Edit: with better grammar!

MiniVee.....oh man...I hope my wife doesn't think of that...she already charges me for things I say....I hope "Mini" doesn't become another bad word!

No I don't know what ship I'm going to be on. Not sure how to find out...askmini?

That site says:
No tracking information is available for the Cargo ID you entered
So I guess its not scheduled yet?

Precisely. Check in a couple days and your information should be up. My S took 3 or 4 days to get to Southhampton once it was completed.

As for my S, the Freedom should be on time as my MA told me that they should have it by the 8th or 9th! I'll pick it up the 11th. This is going to be the longest week ever.:)

That site only works if your vehicle is being shipped by Wallenius Wilhelmsen. There are several other shippers that MINI uses, however, especially if you're West Coast. The only other way to find out what ship you're on is to call your MA.

My dealer told me today that my car was loaded onto a railcar 11/01/05 so I'm guessing it will be in the Toronto area this weekend, in Winnipeg middle of next week and in Calgary close to the next weekend.

Any idea how long it usually takes from the time the car gets off the boat to being put onto a train? Mine was unloded in Halifax on Tuesday. The dealer isn't very specific as to current status other than telling me to expect a 2-3 week wait from this point, which I'm hoping is an overly pessimistic estimate... I don't suppose there's any specific way to track it with CN or CP or whomever they use?

think it takes about 3-4 days to clear customs and end up on a CN Train; it also depends how busy they are at AutoPort. Your MA has access to CN's customer shipping status system, so they should be able to tell you if you're on a train and when it is scheduled to arrive in your city. Maybe just ask them extra nicely.

I just checked WW again. And I'm now scheduled on the Undine scheduled to leave Southhampton 11-7, arrives in Charleston SC on 11-17!!!

So you guys say it takes about 3days to get out of Autoport?

Mine was unloaded from the boat 10/27 and loaded on the train 11/01. I contacted the rail company that Mini Canada uses and they still have no record of my car on the train, even though the dealer insists that it's on the train. I'm in Winnipeg and the dealer tells me the car will be here on the 9th.

The Undine will take very good care of your MINI -- I know she did with mine! ;)

AutoPort is the operation in Halifax, but I imagine you'll probably get a similar timeframe at the US VPCs.

My car still shows that it has not been unloaded from the Freedom either. I hope the web site is wrong.

I think it must be - the last update for mine is "loaded on vessel" although several other miniers on the same trip (the Madame Butterfly which hit Halifax on the 27th) have already been unloaded and have been tracked to various trains.

Bottom line, the 2W site is the best online tool Canadians have to track their minis, so I suppose we can't complain if it's not always accurate or up to date. :)

Cheers!
