I don't know if Canadians can use this, but in any event, it's actually 1-866-ASK-MINI. Might be worth a try.... Maybe they can refer you to the correct number? Your Motoring Advisor should have access to the same info - 866-ASK-MINI just saves us from harrassing our MAs ;)
Good luck! Nimiety Oct 1st, 2005, 03:22 AM Yes, Canadians can call the ask-mini phone number (I have called it about half-a-week ago).
If I recall correctly, my new mini cooper is scheduled for week 40 (it has a birthdate - yay!) and should come in around mid-November-ish. A classic chili red with white roof, with premium package, heated front windshield, front and rear foglights, DSC, all to get a complete set of working toggles. :) :red:
Anyways - I can't wait!

Cool! What info do I need before calling them? Washy Oct 1st, 2005, 08:56 AM That sucks Washy -- sorry to hear that. You have a great car coming, so I can understand the frustration with the delay.
I was reading in some post on Mini2 or NAM that there has been a snag with the JCW kits, and therefore all cars ordered with the JCW engine option have been pushed back to week 45. Unfortunately I don't have any further details for you (e.g., whether it's a problem with parts or production)...but I will look for the relevant thread.
Good news I deleted the JCW from the order and the car is now scheduled for wk 42. I am having the JCW parts fitted by the dealer and am extremely hopeful I will have the car before the end of the month. :D  Nimiety Oct 1st, 2005, 12:05 PM Cool! What info do I need before calling them?
Well, I just had the dealer papers - they can find you in the system from there if they really need to (that's what customer service is all about, as far as I'm concerned). The VIN should certainly be the most important one to have, though.
I my case, I forgot: I didn't want to wait in the phone queue and left a voice mail message after a few minutes - that may have made it easier. Ironically, although my dealer has always been helpful, they seem to be even more helpful since I left my message - one of the general managers (it's a split mini/bmw shop) is working to do something about getting the wheels I want installed for me (I wanted the 7-holes instead of the 5-star rockets), so that doesn't seem so bad anymore. :)
N... satisfiedmind Oct 1st, 2005, 05:57 PM When I called they asked for either the order number or the VIN. tampaguy001 Oct 4th, 2005, 02:47 PM Hey gang! Been a week since my last post but I've been reading. :) Just got word on Friday that my MINI has been completed. To my great suprise, I checked the shipping company and it's been booked. It's booked on the vessel called Courage. It's scheduled to leave on the 6th of October!!! I hope there aren't any problem cause I'm watching the seas and it's looking rough. So, my car is in South Hampton and scheduled to leave on the 6th, destined for Charleston SC on the 19th of October. I'm hoping to have my "boy" by the end of October. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! roymo Oct 5th, 2005, 02:20 AM CONGRATS!! You'll have to post pictures when it arrives to give the rest of us a MINI fix while we wait. :p Ferroequine Oct 5th, 2005, 02:58 PM I got my production number, and she's still slated for week 40 (this week). I might try the ASK MINI line later this week to see if it works, and how things are going.
On a side note, does anyone else's spouse think that tracking your MINI like this is bordering on O/C behaviour? :p satisfiedmind Oct 5th, 2005, 07:09 PM I tried ASK-MINI yesterday but they had trouble getting my order status, I don't know if this is because its a Canadian order or if there was some trouble w/ the system. I called today, and the nice chap on the other end said that my build number wasn't in his database. Maybe the Canadians are SOL after all. I'll just have to pester my MA instead. :D
Satisfiedmind, you were able to get a status at one time, is that correct? satisfiedmind Oct 6th, 2005, 07:16 AM Satisfiedmind, you were able to get a status at one time, is that correct?
The only info I have about my MINI is what my MA told me. I believe it was Nimiety who called ASKMINI and got the status.
I've called ASK-MINI three times, the first time I didn't have the right order number, second time I asked if they can check Canadian orders and I was told no but the third time I just gave my Production # and was told there are problems with the system and I should check back later this week. Washy Oct 6th, 2005, 11:22 AM Called my dealer this morning and my car is going to be built next week. Should be at the dealers w/c 17th October:D :D :D tampaguy001 Oct 6th, 2005, 05:34 PM Just checked the Shipping companies website and my MINI has been loaded on the Vessel. Now, the ship just needs to take off. This is soooo exciting yet frustrating at the same time. I want my car NOW! LOL Hang in there folks...our cars are coming. :p Ferroequine Oct 6th, 2005, 11:08 PM My MINI was born today!  I also received his VIN.
Does anyone know how long it takes to build? I once heard 3 days, start to finish. tampaguy001 Oct 7th, 2005, 01:50 AM My MINI was born today!  I also received his VIN.

Congratulations! Mine took about 5 days from start to finish. Have fun tracking it. I found calling ASK MINI was more up to date than the website. I'm such a nerd that I'm tracking the ship that left today from southhampton. LOL tampaguy001 Oct 7th, 2005, 01:52 AM Called my dealer this morning and my car is going to be built next week. Should be at the dealers w/c 17th October:D :D :D
Wow! If you're car is just being built. How did your dealer manage to get the car by the 17th? You're beyond lucky! :D dchez Oct 7th, 2005, 02:25 AM Hey everyone,
First post - I just got confirmation today (via ASK MINI) that my MINI completed production and is at the port waiting to be loaded. WooHoo!:D
I ordered my MINI on Sep 23 and the specs are as follows:
BRG/W w/white bonnet stripes
LSD
DSC
Cold pack
Sunroof
Front&rear foglights
MFSW
OBC
Chrome line int.
It only took me about a year to finally pull the trigger and order one, but at least my wait should be short now. I checked the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site and my MINI is booked on the Topaz Ray due into NY on 10/20. I live on Long Island, so hopefully I'll receive my MINI soon thereafter. Ferroequine Oct 7th, 2005, 03:54 AM Congrats dchez. That is one very nice spec, if I do say so myself! :D So was your MINI an October build? It must have been finished on the 1st or 2nd then, in order to already be on the boat.
Tampaguy, I believe Washy lives in the UK, so it isn't too far to go for his MINI. ;) Washy Oct 7th, 2005, 07:13 AM Wow! If you're car is just being built. How did your dealer manage to get the car by the 17th? You're beyond lucky! :D
I'm in the UK. I actually only live about 40 miles from the factory.:D Cintelic Oct 7th, 2005, 02:53 PM It's on PATRIOT, heading for Charleston, SC.
(to be the first SolarRed Cooper in Atlanta) dchez Oct 7th, 2005, 03:38 PM Congrats dchez. That is one very nice spec, if I do say so myself! :D So was your MINI an October build? It must have been finished on the 1st or 2nd then, in order to already be on the boat.
Thanks MiniVee! - great minds think alike:D
My MINI was in week 40 production. According to 866-ASK-MINI, it finished production yesterday 10/6. The departure date of the Topaz Ray from Southampton is 10/11, so it hasn't set sail just yet - just patiently waiting at the docks! Ferroequine Oct 7th, 2005, 03:47 PM I checked on the WW site to see which next ship my MINI will probably be on. Just my luck, the next scheduled trip to Halifax NS is the Undine, leaving on the 13th and it is going to take 13 days, as opposed to the 7 day trip of all the other schedules! In fact, a ship that is leaving Southampton a week later is arriving in Halifax a day earlier. I think the Undine is taking the scenic cruise up and down the east coast. What's up with that?
Sigh. dchez Oct 7th, 2005, 04:02 PM MiniVee - it does look like your taking all the local stops along the way:( My ship is going direct to NY from Southampton and is taking 9 days, so 13 for yours including all the stops along the way doesn't seem to bad.
Just think, at least you don't live on the west coast - their transit time is 20+ days:eek: satisfiedmind Oct 7th, 2005, 08:26 PM I called ASK-MINI again today but the order status couldn't get checked so I was forwarded to BMW Canada. Unfortunately they could only re-state my production week so I guess I'll have to call my MA on monday to find out if my MINI has been born yet. Hopefully my MINI will get onto the Madame Butterfly and head straight to Halifax.
Does anyone know approximately how long it takes for the cars to clear customs and arrive in Calgary? roymo Oct 8th, 2005, 01:09 AM Anyone else get the feeling ASKMINI keeps track of how often you've called in their system? I have to admit, I've been a bit obsessive about checking on our production status every few days. :o  This afternoon I called, hoping they might possibly have info on a ship assignment. The rep I spoke to was REALLY nice (I think they all are), but he asked me when I'd last called, and teased me a bit about patience being a virtue I lacked. :p
BTW, no ship assignment yet. SIGH.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen's never heard of my VIN, so I'm guessing we may end up on another carrier? (hoping's more like it - there's not another W2 ship leaving Southampton for Port Hueneme until the 20th I think!) tampaguy001 Oct 8th, 2005, 10:56 PM I'm in the UK. I actually only live about 40 miles from the factory.:D
Very kewl for you Washy! I'm exciting for you. All I know at this point about my MINI, is it's cruising very slowly to Boston MA. Next stop...Charelston SC! I'm still thinking I won't see my MINI until the end of October but I'm hoping. We can only hope. tampaguy001 Oct 8th, 2005, 11:02 PM I have to say though, I'm not looking forward to dealing with my MINI Dealer. I had to fight with him on the price of the car. Well, he wanted to add 1000 dollars for "paint bonding". I can't believe they're still using that line. Then he said if I for-go the paint bonding, they're going to charge me 500 dollars. Five hundred dollars for marketing fee, finders fee a bunch of BS. I finally got him down to just MSRP when I built the MINI online. Hey, did anyone have to provide their dealers with a copy of your Drivers License and car insurance? I thought it was kind of an odd request after providing him a 1000 dollar deposit.
Even when it arrives at the dealership, they still have to install the Aux. input. | |
