Just a note of hope for USA West Coasters ... one of my coworkers with a September build MINI is picking hers up next week! That means we could be happy drivers in only a month. I can't wait!

The next ship out of Southhampton to the West Coast, USA is the Isolde, scheduled to leave the UK on Oct. 20 and arrive in Port Hueneme, CA on Nov. 12. Given time at the Vehicle Distribution Center, folks in CA could probably pick theirs up by the third week in Nov. I am guessing it will be at least late Nov. before I see Zephyr (he was just born on Oct. 8), given that he has to be trucked from California to Colorado. Probably a bit earlier for you Roymo since yours "only" has to head north up the coast (no mountains and possible snow storms to contend with).

Well, here's my tale... I had no info and called the 800-ASK MINI number. The customer service person greeted me and was very friendly and admitted she would have no info on my build since it's a Canadian car. She transferred me over to the Canadian mini group, and they also confirmed that only a dealer can update a buyer on a Canadian order.

I called my dealer and confirmed my car has a VIN and is expected to be built by the 14th.

Oh, according to my dealer, it's about 17 days by boat to Halifax (just north of you) and another 17 days to Ottawa - using that as a yardstick, I'd think a good month to get to you.

My MINI has been completed, and as of yesterday evening is sitting in the "yards" at Southampton!

She is booked on the "HONOR", due to leave Southampton on Oct 25th, and arriving in Halifax on November 1. She has to sit at the docks for 2 weeks -- WW must be busy... :(

hmm...Yesterday I was able to look up the status of my MINI on WW site without problems. It was received and booked.

I cheked today, entered the whole VIN (as usual) and got: "No tracking information is available for the Cargo ID you entered".

Did it get stolen already?!

and entered my MINI's VIN. It showed as received, and then a second entry as booked a few hours later. This was after my dealer told me that he was finished. It might take a few days from when the factory is done to when the railroad delivers the MINIs to the shipper.

When the MINIs are awaiting to be shipped are they somehow protected or are they out in the open exposed to all the elements?

There is probably other cars mixed in with the MINIs as well. :eek:

But I've read if you're not shipping WW, the only way to get info on the ship is from your MA, or possibly ASKMINI - the other shippers don't have a VIN lookup like WW does.

Once the car is released to shipping company, "Ask Mini" can not track that car any more... Your MA or MA's manager will get a report with the cars location and the shipping information... The same reports has the Ship Name and Ship schedule.
Your are looking at approx 28 days from Southampton to West Coast (USA).

Our Mini arrived at port of exit in UK on 9/5/05 - we took delivery this past Sunday 10/9/05 in Los Angeles. We only had a Mini Alarm installed at dealer. So there was not much of a delay for dealer prep.
So that should give you a good time frame on when to expect arrival.

I checked the WW tracking site again today ('cause I just can't help myself), and now my MINI's ship booking has changed! I'm now on the Undine, which leaves tomorrow and arrives on the 26th (on the scenic route, mind you). Perhaps a spot opened up...

All this checking is not good for my mental health.... Too much anticipation! :D

You're so lucky MiniVee that you are on the Undine. If all goes well with customs then you should have your MINI in mid November. My MINI is just beginning production so all I can do is pray that it will make it onto the Madame Butterfly.

First of all, congrats on your new MINI! How are you enjoying it so far? Post a picture! :D :D :D
Do you know when your MINI departed Southampton? If our MINIs are really sitting at the port for 2+ weeks waiting for transportation, obviously we'll be slower to take delivery.
I know our MAs should be able to give us details on the ship and estimated docking date, but from what I've read on earlier delivery / order tracking threads, some MAs are less forthcoming than others on this info, and I know I've seen at least one post by someone who called ASKMINI after their MA wasn't helpful, and indicated ASKMINI was happy to tell them info about what ship their MINI was on.

From what I hear, it's really common for MINIs to get booked on a ship and then bumped to another one. Don't worry! :D
Does MINI use other shipping companies for East Coast deliveries? Maybe your MINI's been bumped to another ship, with someone other than WW, which would explain why WW has no info?

Has anyone ordered accessories for their MINI yet or am I the only crazy one? My hella driving lights arrived in the post today and they look absolutely amazing, I can't wait to install them. Now I'm trying to decide on some chrome side markers. I know my MINI won't be here for at least another month but I just can't wait, lol. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but my three favorite things are driving, music and skiing and the only one I can do right now is music. I think this is going to be a really long month.

Hey guys, I've been away the last few days and just getting caught up. I've got good news - checked the WW site and they confirm my MINI was loaded on the Topaz Ray on Tues Oct 11th and is now making its trip across the pond.:D

Curiously, OL still says awaiting transport. But then again, they have been a few days behind throughout the entire process. WW shows the MINI arriving in NY on the 20th, so I should have the car the following week! :cool:

I just got news that my MINI began production yesterday but I still haven't received my VIN. I thought the VIN is assigned when the vehicle begins production.

I'm right behind ya. My baby started today. Four days ahead of schedule. got vin too.

My MINI appears to have left on the Undine this evening out of Southampton, with 122 of his brothers and sisters on board. :cool: The Undine is currently just south of England, and should be heading towards the Atlantic shortly. My order was placed 9/9 and is on the water. As best as I can figure it’s on a K line ship that set sail on 10/10.

I ordered:

Cloth Seats (I had a convertible before with leather seats and it was awful)

Australia is my favourite place on the whole planet and when we stayed in Sydney last year our hotel room overlooked Darling harbour and I was able to watch them unloading the cars off ships just like that.....

Good luck wuth the MINI when it arrives BTW. Fingers crossed mine should be at the dealer early next week.:D
