Just checked the WW website and my JCW Mini was brought to the Southampton docks 10/13, will be leaving on the ship Madame Butterfly 10/19 and arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia 10/26. I guess only Canadians are getting their JCW Minis early.

Scatpack,
SO sorry to hear your car didn't match your spec. Can they easily replace the panels? How long 'til they make it right and you can take it home?

I left with no answers at all. The manager is "on vacation"

You have GOT to be kidding! Manager goes on vacation leaving no one with the knowledge or authority to handle issues while (s)he's gone??

Surely your MA must have some idea how these things are normally handled. Hate to say it, but I've seen other postings where a vehicle arrived with the wrong spec.

Hope they make it right for you SOON!

$10 bucks says they don't call me on Monday, and I end up having to call them.

$20 bucks says they'll gladly do the swamps, for an additional $200 (the cost of color dash/door)

$30 bucks says they offer me no incentives or anything extra to make me happy.

Did they not give you any paperwork you can use to prove that what they have doesn't match your order? If you do, I can't imagine you'll have any trouble getting them to make it right at their expense, and possibly reimburse you somehow for your trouble. :(

Anyone else on the Patriot? WW says I am received at Terminal, then Booked on 10-14

tracking the Patriot, it says it left today! But the initial page still just says "Booked"

Did she get bumped, or is she getting her "sea wheels?"

Also, does anyone know where vehicles for Chicago get unloaded? I would think MD, but I dont know for sure!

Well you NEED to call Mini USA !!! Make them aware of the issue...

The Sales manager should be calling you ASAP - If NOT, find out what their name is and give them a call directly....

Your car should be RE-ORDERED asap and they should give you a MINI Alarm or those extra options should be FREE for your troubles.... There is NO excuse for a wrong order..:bad:

They are supposed to match the "Customer Order" form with the "Mini Order Confirmation Dealer" form, which is the final form the Mini plant receives from the dealer, via the internet.
If they ordered the car wrong its their fault.... If they ordered the car right, but was sent wrong from Mini (highly unlikely), then its still their fault for delivering the car wrong to you.

Someone (your MA) is supposed to check the car over with customer order form in their hand, before making delivery...

We ordered our 05' Cooper and it came with the wrong color roof on final Delivery day... We did not accpet the car "as is" - it was not what we ordered!!! (Dealer error)
They re-ordered our Copper, had to be an 06', and they took very good care of US!!
Total wait time was 4 months > 2 for the wrong order and 2 for the right order...
But we are in CA so its normally a 6-8 week for custom builds..

In our case, our MA ordered it correctly, but the "Sales Manager" who inputed the final order, flat out screwed up!!!!

Good Luck

My MINI is booked on the Madame Butterfly! Any ideas on how long her cross Canada journey might take?

Takes about 7 days on the ship, according to the WW schedule. My MA has told me that it can take up to 3 weeks to process, do customs and get sent to the dealership after the ship arrives.

The Sales Manager offered me $500 to take the car as is

OR

Take the car now, order the new interior panels and have them installed when they get in. (2-3 wks)

... and they forgot the wheels were wrong!! They were going to get back to me again about the wheels. I don't feel comfortable leaving with the car with the wrong wheels. One case of curb rash and I'll probably be stuck with the old wheels.

Spoke to MINIUsa and the only thing they offered was to file a formal complaint. And had no other option.

It better not take 3 weeks, I don't think I could wait that long.

I'm with you, knowing my car is sitting in Halifax on the 26th is going to make me want to book a flight there for the 27th. I'm not sure I will be able to wait 3 weeks.

I'm with you on not leaving the lot with the wrong wheels on. Do they not have a car on the lot they could swap wheels with?

I'm going to take a moment here for some pointless whining. My MINI completed production on 10/6, OL and ASKMINI still indicate it's awaiting transport, and an email to my MA has gone unanswered for 3 days. :(
Anyone on the West Coast still have "awaiting transport" as a status but have confirmation from the dealer that it's in transit?

That is really not much of a way to "help" you with their mistake....

What I would settle for is:

1.) Demand the $500 discount on the car, since they made a huge mistake with your order....
2.) Have them order the NEW Interior panels and have them installed at there expense (but you will still pay for the option)
3.) Have them order and install the correct wheels & tires as you requested in the 1st place, at their expense (but you will still pay for the option)

Don't drive off the lot with the wrong wheels.... If they agree to any of this, have them put it in writing and signed by the Sales manager on their letterhead...

There is NO reason why you should drive off or settle for a MINI that was not built to your liking!!!

You can also let them know that you have consulted with MINI USA and that they are looking into the matter... If the Sales manager gives you a hard time, ask to speak to the General manager....

There is over a million different ways to build a MINI, don't settle for there mistake..!!!

Good Luck

Gee, guess I'm late to this party. My '06 MCS was conceived on 02/10/06 and born on 08/10/06. She is a very beautiful Space Blue/Silver combo.

MCS, SB/S
Silver bonnet stripe
LSD (this is the only reason that I am trading my '02MCS)
DSC
MFSW (this is the 3-spoke wheel unfortunately, the 2-spoke is not available on this side of the pond, something about air-bags, more like wind-bags)
CWP (Cold Weather Package, heated seats, washer jets, and mirrors)
OBC
Xenons
Front & rear fogs
Space cloth interior
Alloy patina trim

Currently onboard the Topaz Ray, sailed 11/10/05 due to arrive in NY on 21/10/05

The OL is always several days behind. I had confirmation that mine was onboard the ship, and the ship had sailed, and OL still had me awaiting transport. Do not worry, all will be made clear soon.

Ive tracked the ship containing my MINI (and 177 others) across the Atlantic. It will be in Port on the 13th. Anyone have a gauge of how long it takes at port and then to my dealer (in NJ)

Here is where it is today

Ok, sorry for highjacking this thread but here is the latest update on my "wrong" convertible order.

Im cancelling my order and will not reorder at this dealer.

Why? Because they keep lying to me. When I went to pick up the car, they told me the 7 spoke wheels on the car were the V-spokes I ordered AND appeared on my window sticker. NOW the story is "Oh, you can't get V-spokes on a convertible, thats why they werent on the car" Oh really? You can configure one right now online and at the dealer, and MINIusa says it isnt true.

They said they would swap the wrong interior panels but I was costing them $1000. I am costing them? Me?

So why is the dealer continuing to lie to me.. even though they offered to swap the wheels?! Thats a good question, and why I am taking my business elsewhere. I have no confidence in this dealer at all.

I was willing to wait the 3 weeks for the new panels, and take the swapped wheels, and even though I asked for a AUX adapter for my pain (and they said no!) the reason Im cancelling is because I cant trust these guys, and cant recommend anyone else the same.

I think it's time you name and shame them - it's the only thing likely to get their attention! Sorry to say it, but they're unlikely to have much trouble selling the car to someone else.
:(
Hope you're planning to file a formal complaint with MINIUSA (hurts their future vehicle allocations from what I hear), but by all means name the dealership here, esp. under dealership feedback so you can save someone else the trouble you've been through.

ASK-MINI automated phone service gave me an update of "in transit" today! Not sure which boat or shipper (WW website says "no tracking info available"), but Zephyr's on his way to California and then Colorado.

Roymo since we have siblings on the same ship, last one to post our first photo is a rotten egg!

so sorry to hear this. The good thing is that you will get your cooper exactly the way you configured it in a few weeks. Shame on this dealer.

Green on green S convertable on Topaz Ray originally scheduled to dock in NY on the 20th. Now delayed till the 22nd on cargo tracking site. BMW Canadian site forum says it will dock on the 24th. Considering the poor maintenance record on the Topaz Ray I'm starting to worry. Anyone have any info?

My car completed production on 8 October.

I learned today from ASK MINI that it is in transit and left Southampton on the 15th of October. I tried to track it on the WW site, but there was no tracking info available.

I'm guessing on an ETA in Portland, OR around end of November or beginning of December.
