Offline | Any surprises for 2006? It's been 11 long days since I signed on the dotted line and said "Sir, I hereby appoint thee to get mine butt into a Cooper S horseless carriage, but maketh it constructed in the year of our Lord 2006. I pledge to repay thou efforts with vast sums of wealth". OK, perhaps I wasn't really as flamboyant as that, although I do remember offering my eldest child as part payment at one point. Be that as it may, at what point could I expect to find out what specification change there will be (if any) for 2006 built cars? Is the beginning of the year the time at which changes are normally made, and how far in advance are announcements made? 24 weeks to go. *sigh* I hope you guys are patient and realise we're all in this together, 'cos this is going to kill all of us. And let's not even talk about colour choice indecisions ... Peter |

Offline | Sounds like you and I are in the same boat (literally). I ordered mine on the 17th of September. The waiting is painful. I should know better, as I waited 12 weeks for the Cooper. BTW, have you received a production week estimate yet? Cheers Chris |

Offline | We've ordered a Cooper S manual, Chilli pack, sunroof and auto-dipping mirror, Chili Red with black roof (but the Chili Red might become Dark Silver). We ordered ours on October 5, but because we've specified a 2006 build I think the dealer isn't expecting to place the order for a few weeks yet. He's estimated delivery as the end of March, but I don't expect a firmer estimate until some time closer to the end of the year. Have I mentioned yet how much I hate waiting? ![]() Thanks for the tip about motoringfile.com. Off to do some reading now! Peter The Frustrated |

| Whatev. | Hey there welcome to MINIdom ![]() I placed my order at the end of September and took delivery at the end of January. The car is actually a 2004 spec even though it was built in November 2003. As I plan to keep it for a long time, I didn't really care what year it was classed as because I had all the 2004 bits. ![]() |

| Livin' the country life | No worries PTF When I ordered my Dark Silver MCS Convertible I had to wait 9 agonizing months, so I know where you are coming from Never underestimate the allure of Dark Silver, Some folks around these parts refer to it as "the cranky colour" but they are just jealous.By and by we all love our MINIs, so if you need help just ask ![]() PS the funny thing is one of my good mates calls me Simon The Thirsty ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Thanks all. Glad to hear I'm not alone in suffering through The Long Wait. And Mary, why did ya have to go and complicate things by making your CR/W look so good? You know, if you'd just go splatter a little mud on it for me and then send an updated pic, it would make my decision a lot easier. (Who am I kidding? As if it's actually going to end up being my decision anyway ...) |

Offline | Is this steering wheel the current MFSW for Australian delivered cars? I haven't seen the phone buttons anywhere except on the web so far. (Ooh - I added a picture and nothing blew up. Doing the "aren't I clever" happy dance now). |

Offline | Hi Peter, welcome to MINIdom and good luck with the purchase. I'm sure everyone here on MINI2 will try to help make the wait as painless possible. By the way you phrase your sentences you make an excellent candidate to Join the NSW Pirates (even though you live in Qld ). You would be a huge asset to us on International Talk Like a Pirate Day .If ever you are down in theses waters let us know and we will organize to take you out on a MINI drive day. Once again Good Luck. ![]() GETTING ALL RALLYED UP and a little bit sideways |

Offline | Hmmm, from now till Christmas I'm tied up as guest speaker for the Raving Like A Loon festival and followed by my photoshoot for the Will Obviously Beg For Pizza calendar. I'll get my people to talk to your people and we'll work something out. We'll do lunch. In the meantime, my copy of Talking Like A Pirate For Dummies has been ordered. I was in NSW last weekend for Bathurst, and then I'm back in Bathurst in January for a hillclimb ("wahoo", to put not too fine a point on it). A MINI drive day could be a distinct possibility. |

Offline | Sounds good Peter, let us know the dates for the Bathurst Hill climb when you have them. I like your tag line under your user name . I'll try and find the link to "The self help group for MINIs in waiting". ![]() ![]() GETTING ALL RALLYED UP and a little bit sideways |

Offline | While in my MINI dealer this past weekend, I asked the exact same question. While my answer was not a firm one (for he is new to the MINI Corp. by only two weeks) he relayed onto me that the electronic steeringwheel was standard on all models, as well as some subtle color combinations have been changed / opened up for different models . *Again, he was playing telephone with one of the other sales associates, so as I am not confident in this post - if at all, take this as rumor |

Offline | Congrats on your purchase! Thats the 3 spoke steering wheel with the phone buttons which I think comes standard with the chilli. Otherwise you get the 2 spoke with the buttons, and the 3 spoke is an extra $160. I may be wrong though.... Good luck with the wait DanC |

| I dream of MINI... | Ditto that on the MFSW. I took delivery of my black eye purple MCC in late May and the 3 spoke MFSW came standard only with the Chilli. It's a great little steering wheel...and at the extra cost of $160 it is definitely worth getting not only because it looks better but because of the functions! |

Offline | Hey Peter, I'm in the same boat too as I put an order down for a Jan 06 build MCS Chilli at the end of June. I estimate that I'm about 1/3 the way through the wait but lucky for me, I've got one to enjoy in the mean time Apparently the dealer here in Canberra is allocated build slots at the start of the month so hopefully, I'll beat you to delivery but given your in Brisbane and one port closer (or further away, depending on which way the ship comes - via the US or via Africa) you may end up getting yours sooner than I get mine. What others have said about the model year (MY) starting around September the previous year is right but there are sometimes small changes that get made as of January production. A couple of examples of this in the MY04 model year include the phone buttons on the steering wheel (which you posted) and the low windscreen washer fluid warning light on the end of the windscreen wiper stalk which were added in January this year. There is also the fact that some mandated standards such as the requirement to enable OBD II (an On Board Diagnostics standard that allows non proprietary devices to connect to your cars diagnostics port which shows real time engine information and fault codes) come into effect as of January. I couldn’t decided whether I was Arthur or Martha as far as the colour decision goes (it isn't easier the second time either) but I think I've finally settled on pepper white. Also, don't believe all that rubbish about a certain persons "oracle" status - the people that are peddling that think they are funny but in reality they are all full of crap ![]() Sorry for the long post ![]() Andrew Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |
