Australia Sat Nav Ver12 DVD Australia

Does anyone have a copy of the Version 12 DVD with Australian maps on it? I was wondering if the "information" IE. restaurants, businesses, place of interest etc are any improvement on the Ver 10 DVD that came with my car (which is either really out of date, or non existent!). I was quoted $350 for the Version 12 DVD from my local dealer - maybe its possible to copy/burn or download from somewhere.

By the way I downloaded the latest Ver26 software update for my DVD based sat nav (this version won't work on the CD based systems) from NAM, and it is a vast visual improvement on what came with my '04 Cooper S. I have been using it for a few days now, and haven't found any negatives.

Thanks!!

...Also, is it possible to use a Ver12 DVD from another make of car (ie Toyota) as the DVD and Map Info all comes from the same source (sensis).
Thanks!!

... Anyone with Sat Nav... anyone...Bueller...Bueller....

Sorry, no help on the DVD front but what about the Ver26 software? Is this for the OEM SatNav? What are the visual differences?

Where did you get it from?!!

I'm spewing about the fact that the DVD based systems have had an interface overhaul and the CD based systems like mine will look like vomit forever

ah well, price you pay for being first on the block

Spottydog, your best would be to find someone who has bought a MINI or BMW recently and copy their disc - I've not known many people in Aus to actually buy a map upgrade. Mine is still running the 2002 map and it's OK (though the Cross City Tunnel in Sydney will mess it up)

And to answer your other question, only BMW/MINI map discs will work. The new BMW ones may not even work any more - I don't know what systems the new 3/5/7 series run anymore.

Hi Jonesy,
This is for the OEM DVD version Sat Nav.
The colours of the maps are better.
The smoothness of the graphics are better.
The car is almost permenatly positioned in the middle of the screen, so you don't get that problem where the car is at the top of the screen and you can't see the up-coming streets.
The maps track and rotate smoother.
Thats about it as far as I can tell - all justs looks really.

You can read more about it and get download/install instructions here:
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=51041

I followed the instructions and the install took about 2 min, no hitches!

Cheers!
John

Hi IML337,
Don't be too upset, I know some people on the forums rave on about how great Ver26 is, but it isn't a great leap forward. I'm more interested in getting updated maps, but only if the "information" has been updated. I find the information on destinations almost useless. I can ask the sat nav for resturants in a suburb that I know has many - and get a list of 2! - one a takeaway, the other closed down years ago! A friend of mine has a Garmin, and it uses the same info (from Sensis), he is able search by company, by closest - a great feature! And it doesn't seem to matter what company he chooses, it always seems to be in there. So if this info is on the new ver12 maps (obviously not the company search feature) then I would consider buying the ver12 map DVD.
Cheers!
John

Yeah, its really best to take it to PM's.. and maybe talk with some fellow clubMINI'ers at a run that you see with a new car.

I wonder how likely it is that a Demo (perhaps overnight/on-yer-own for an hour demo) would have sat-nav??

Hi,

I love your post

The first paragraph is all serious, concerned about fellow mini2er's getting busted

In the second paragraph, the evil temptation has grabbed you, and you are conspiring a cunning plan

Cheers

Robbo
