| 2002 MCS - EB/W | Brisbane pulley install G'day, This is my first post, and I would like to start by saying how great these forums are. I've been reading them for months and only now feel the need to ask a question that hasn't been answered with a few searches. My warranty recently ran out and now I'm happy ramping up the performance of my '02 MCS. After reading a lot (both here and NAM), and have decided to go with - Alta 15% reduction pulley Along with - MTH - Milltek sport cat-back exhaust - Alta CAI I talked to QSZ about AMD pulley and ECU upgrades, but for the money and future upgradability, can't go past the MTH option. The problem, is that I have no idea who to get to install the pulley in Brisbane. Especially since they will need a pulley puller etc, and I don't want to trust the Mini to just anyone. If anyone has recommendations for local pulley installers (even on the Gold Coast if I have too) that would be much appreciated. Also, I would love to hear from any local guys that have installed the MTH flash - to hear your views (and borrow your OBD cable if possible) - or anyone that has installed a pulley locally (even if it was an AMD). Thanks in advance, PS I met a few of you at the Motorline Show N Shine recently. Hope to catch up again soon. |

Offline | HI no help on who to do the pulley for you.........But a word of warning make sure the people doing it have done it before and know what they are doing. As on the first Bris BMW drive day, a MINI with a pulley installed destroyed the belt on the run up MT Nebo. The pulley was put on crocked and resulted in one very unhappy owner. |

Offline | I'm not a fan of the AMD OneClick, its a very generic tune, and now that there are better options out I don't know why people still go for it. As far as getting a pulley fitted up there, talk to your local clubMINI members, they might be able to help you out/reccomend someone! If you've got a bit of mechanical knowledge (not car mechanics, but how to pull things apart generally) there are fully detailed instructions that make it not *too* hard to do yourself if you're keen/brave! I did it, and I've never looked back!! PM or email me if you are interested in MTH stuff (click on my sig picture! )Kev |

Offline | I got my Minimania 15% pulley fitted by my local BMW garage. They did a great job, I have since clocked up several thousand K's with no problems. As for the pulley puller I manufactured one which BMW Newcastle's service dept want to obtain from me. The whole job does not look too difficult but I did not have the trolley jack floor stands etc. When you buy from Minimania in USA check the shortened belt. All delivered in 6 working days great service. In my view best bang for $'s spent. |

Offline | Or you could buy a promini pulley from Wheel warehouse in Adelaide and get it virtually overnight. They will also lend you the tools you need including the pulley puller. I got mine from there with a belt and don't forget the cooler plugs to go with the pulley to prevent pre detobnation at the higher heat levels caused by the extra boost. My local BMW/mini Dealer fitted mine for me with no problems. |

| 2002 MCS - EB/W | Thanks for the input guys. Experience with pulley installs seems to be the most important factor. I talked to a friend of a friend up here who had his Mini worked on by McLean Motors. They have experience with the Mnimania pulley so I think I will go with them. I'll also talk to the local Mini dealer about Promini installs. Cheers, |

Offline | You can't go wrong with McLean Motors. In Brisbane, they're still known as *the* place to get your Italian exotic worked on and the oil leaks repaired. And they're downright decent people too. |

| 2002 MCS - EB/W | Thanks bigturtle. That's just the recommendation I needed. I was very impressed with the tuned Mini a friend took me for a spin in. Furthermore, I was also impressed with Cameron on the phone when I called McLean. I might just check Chapman Auto at the Gabba (they were recommended by Motorline Mini). Anyone have any Mini specific experience with them? I know they do a lot of Euro work, but haven't heard about Mini stuff specifically. |
