| MINI2 Master | Coming to Sydney - Australia Day Weekend. Dan (doona) and I (and possibly others - read this as an invite ) are headed up to Sydney on the Australia Day weekend. Partially to catch up with people at PITS, and partially 'cos I need to do 7500k's between now and the end of March....Our tentative plans at this stage are: Friday - Drive Up Friday Night - ?????? Saturday: do a bit of random sightseeing Saturday night: ????? Sunday Morning: I hear there's a place that sells Pies north of Sydney somewhere?? Sunday afternoon: head back home. now, as well as warning people of our imminent arrival, I thought I'd ask if anyone knew of a good place to stay. By good, I mean safe parking for the car, and not ludicrously expensive. I'm 99% sure we'd be sharing a room (a room that is, not a bed ), so I'm open to suggestions....mpd. |

Offline | oooo excellent ![]() Count me in for anything you guys decide to do up around the Coast ![]() As to accoms, I could only recommend places in Newey which probably aren't much use to you! Look forward to catching up with you (and meeting some of you )- Global Moderator - MY BLOG - Global Procrastinator - ![]() ... Offline | I will have all that weekend free too - if you're keen to do drives both days, seeing as none of you have seen the Pirates haunts, could probably add both Wollombi and Wisemans to the drive list. One for Saturday, one for Sunday ![]() Wisemans would probably be better suited for the Sunday, as it heads you back towards Sydney for the journey home whereas Wollombi heads you North - probably better suited to Saturday... That is unless you have 'real' sightseeing to do in Sydney on the Saturday ![]() - Global Moderator - MY BLOG - Global Procrastinator - ![]() ... Offline | cool... well I'm up for a sunday wiseman's run. ![]() For accom where abts do you want to stay? generally you can hire apartments in the city that come with parking for a few hundred bucks. If you want to be in the city try places like the Medina. Otherwise, you can stay out near Macquarie (abt 20-30min drive to CBD). There's like a hotel there that's pretty good I heard. Can't remember the name off the top of my head. ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | Without having spoken to Dan about it, I was thinking I'd be fine with being a little bit out of the CBD, since it'll mean the hotel will be cheaper (I was budgeting around the $100ish per night for the 2 person room), I found a website earlier that has special offers for hotels that have rooms available 2 weeks out, some of them were offering rooms that are normally $200+ for about $110, so I'll check it out closer to the date.... |

| Whatev. | Also, having spent a month of this year working in a motel I can also tell you that they generally only stick a couple of rooms up and if someone snaffles them from under you - they should (if reasonable, depends on the management) let you have one of their 40 other empty rooms for the same price. ![]() Add quickbeds.com.au to Mary's list too ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Can't remember off the top of my head, but $140-160ish rings a bell. Great location too. The Hotel also provides parking (an additional $16.50), but when we stayed there I parked nearby at my boss' mum's place. ![]() |
