Offline | Warning to all new mini owners I thought I'd post a warning to all new mini owners. Everyone knows how great they are to drive hard, but there is a down side to it. You can very easily get over confident about the handling of the car and you want to see how far it will go. Well last week I found out the hard way. A combination of being over confident and a lack of experience has resulted in me being without a mini now and looking for a replacement. I ended up doing a bit of reverse bush bashing and the bush won. You can see the results in my gallery if you're up to it. WARNING - The following images may cause undue distress to anyone wishing to view them. You have been warned ! So now i am on the lookout for a replacement so I can get back on the horse ( so the saying goes ). Any suggestions or contacts would be greatly appreciated. So all you new mini owners out there, be very carefull and take it slowly until you familiarise yourself with your car and learn its limits. Michael. |

Offline | dude!! I feel your pain! Condolences for the loss.... and yes you are correct in so many ways... take it easy and get familiar with the vehicle (not just the mini) before you go doing anything aggressive.. and even that... take it easy.. ![]() |

Offline | to ease everyone's concern I'm fine. I had a sore neck and shoulders for a few days and a scratch on my foot from hitting the pedals. I was very lucky, considering. The car is a write off, so AAMI are paying out the insurance. All I have to do now is wait for the payout and buy a replacement. i'm driving around in my brothere Lancer stationwagon this week, while he's out of town, but I don't know what will happen when he gets back. |

| MINI Traitor | I'm very happy to hear you are OK ![]() I must say I started looking at the damage photos, and it didn't look that bad. However, when you look at the photos of where it ended up you realise it's another case of tough little car saves owners bacon... The End ![]() |

Offline | I am glad you are OK - thats looks like it was a bit of a wild ride (to put it bluntly!!!). Where abouts did that happen? Just out of curiosity - how did you come to be going on a bush walk in your car - they are some decent skid marks left on the road (probably other places too - best not to go down that track though). |

Offline | Not a single one of the airbags went off. And yes, it is ex-Giles mcs. I feel bad about what I have done to his great car. i was having so much fun with it that I need to get back at the wheel as soon as possible. It will be interesting to drive a standard mcs after driving this one, as I doubt I'll be able to get another mcs with the go fast goodies this one had. What i've seen with others cars, I won't be disapointed. |
