3rd Annual clubMINI run to Byron Bay

Byron Bay Run 11-12 February 2006 All welcome

clubMINI Q is hosting its 3rd annual run to Byron Bay.

For those of you that have participated before, you know the reputation the drive through the mountains from Brisbane to Byron has is well deserved.

For those that haven't shared in the experience, be prepared for the ride of your life.

Any MINI pilots who are interested in joining us in Byron Bay on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12h of February 2005, are most welcome.

Accommodation will be on a book yourself basis.

To this end, I have added the following link to accomodation within the area:

http://www.bigvolcano.com.au/database/accomndx.htm

We discovered last year, most of the accomodation houses in Byron have a 3 day minimum stay. So the plan is to stay in Lennox Head, 12 minutes to the south.

I am still trying to arrange one or two main venues for accomodation, so stayed tuned. But if you are eager, book a place anywhere in Lennox and you won't be more than 5 minutes from anyone else.

Lunch on the Saturday will again be at the Beach Cafe on Lawson Street, not far from the lighthouse.

Dinner is already confirmed for the Great Northern Hotel in the centre of Byron. It will be the same deal as last year. This means an early dinner thanks to daylight savings and the fact there will be a band on afterwards. Despite this, last year we managed to fit in a drinkies session before dinner, 3 courses and a good time mingling before the band started.

Some folk are also planning on staying the Sunday night, as well. So why not make it a long weekend and join us.

So, if you are interested, post here and we can get the ball rolling.

To all MINI pilots in other, more distant areas of our nation, sorry that I didn't get this information out sooner to help you plan your sojourn north. Hopefully, some of you who made the trip last year can still make (and bring some more MINI friends.)

BTW, here is a link to last year's run. http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...=70877&page=13

Cheers

Ken

I have a small question
Why don't the clubs organise a "Round Australia" bash? We could get sponsorship and donate money to a noble cause of some type. Have the bash start somewhere like Cairns and go full circle around the country.
Just a thought

We would love to do it again. Unfortunately Brad and I will have just bought a house/business premises/church and we will be renovating madly instead.

Hope we can make it next year! Have a great time everyone

Richard,

This may be a year or two off, but I am considering it. I have friends that organise a bash from Melbourne to Brisbane and another from Brisbane to Melbourne.

I was thinking about doing the Bris to Melb later this year, but have other commitments.

Unfortunately, they are both back road country bashes and are a bit rough. However, my friends' organisation skills and experiences will come in handy down the track.

Meanwhile, I have to concentrate on Byron.

Ken

Hi again Ken, if it helps anyone, we have booked into Peppers Casuarina Lodge, approx 15mins from Byron,(in Coorabell), and they do allow one night bookings, there also seems to be plenty of vacancies .A rainforest suite is selling on www.wotif.com.au at less than 1/2 their normal rate.
cheers
Darrell
