The early models had it, then they dropped it, then recently it has returned... I like the concept of being able to fit it yourself without the big black strip behind it... as for the off centre job - can someone say "VL Turbo!" or "Daihatsu Sirion!"

Its a bit like the rear ciggy lighter socket - it comes and goes between months, with no real indication of why.

I really, really don't see why people leave it on, looks absolutely ****.

When we got our PL, we didn't like the idea of the dealer drilling holes into our custom plates so we got them the snap-ons, with front and back panels. The back part has many different sets of holes which you can fit on almost all cars. You mount that back panel onto the mini, place the number plate on and snap the front tightly on.

It looks great and no drilling of extra holes anywhere.

A bit of body filler will fill that up fine, and any you should be able to colour in in with touchup paint.

I had it done when the car was in the bodyshop after someone rear-ended me. To fill the 2 holes and paint the bumper again cost me $180 But I think it looks much better without that big backing plate

I wish I knew of that before they drilled ugly holes in my numberplate.. To make things worse, one of the screws holding my numberplate on the rear has been threaded...

That's what I thought, but it was either pay, have the holes or do it myself

They haven't done any more of the work on SMURFN

To answer someone a while back. Yes, I was hoping the "no Holes" would work down under. No biggie if it does not.

I ran without a plate for a long time. I just could not stand drilling holes into the bumper. The nice thing about this little device is that it is removeable. Plus, you can mount other things to it.

Take care guys.

GMG

And yes, I would relocate if I could. Something about a job and paying for food.

I think not a lot of people know about those snap-ons, at least the dealers don't (surprise, surprise). We were explaining to them what we wanted but they didn't seem to understand what we were on about. They kept saying, "No, the standard holes don't fit, we'll have to drill through the plates" YES WE KNOW, BONE HEAD! LISTEN TO US!!!!

In the end, we just gave up, went to the closest auto shop and got it for them.
