| MINI2 Regular | Got a question about the Aussie plate Do you guys know what the hole spacing is on your license plate? The plate looks to be the same size as a US plate. I am trying to figure out if this works, ![]() If not, how do I modify it so it does? Or does the dealer slap your plate on the front before you take delivery of your car and this is totally useless in Australia? Thanks in advance! Offline | As far as I am aware, spacing is somewhat 'standard', except for custom plates. There are instances where a custom plate can be smaller than the standard spacing. I can give the spacing for my home state of Victoria. The other thing is that often we only use two screws at the top edge of the plate. In reference to your last question, generally a dealer puts plate on at delivery as it is illegal to not have a front plate. Although, you can ask the dealer to leave it off and temporarily place it on the dashboard. Hope it helps Chris ![]() |

Offline | They had to do that on our Prius as well with the NSW Euro plates, drilled extra holes straight through the metal of the boot, now when it rains or the car gets washed, water goes straight into the boot cavity. Thankfully most of the car is plastic anyways ![]() |

Offline | Err.. and you didn't take the car back and demand a new boot to be put on!?! Oh, and its good to see *someone* bought the Prius ![]() .As the others said, your plates come strapped on the car, screwed into the front bumper. Are you relocated over here GMG? |

| Smurfing Around | My car had a mounting plate attached to the front. I took it off, and was left with the drill holes, which I had filled at my own expense. A few others have had their cars delivered without the front number plate attached, and done it themselves later |

Offline | I didn't know how they put the front number plate on my MINI but I know with the prius it came with a plastic block at the front for you to drill into. Doesn't the MINI come with this as well? (sorry haven't gotten mine back from the garage yet so can't look) |
