Offline | Advice please: How to deal with the wait!!! I just wanted to ask all my fellow aussie mini owners. How did you deal with the wait between ordering your car and it showing up? It’s only been 2 weeks since i put the deposit on and I am struggling!!!! I have read and re-read the sales brochure and accessories booklet and specs so many times i am wearing out the pages and i have done so much research on ipod options and mods i am getting to the point of information overload. So i really need to know how others dealt with the waiting period. For the record my Parklane is slated for a June arrival i am told. Thanks Mark |

Offline | Think about people like me who waited 6 months for a Cooper S, then 8 months for a Golf GTI, and you'll feel better... Otherwise, grab a demo to drive every now and then from the dealer ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Give yourself a project that's difficult to complete in the time available; I had to clear out the garage of around 10 year's build up of junk, build a shed to move my work bench in to and paint the garage floor all in time before the MINI arrived. The time flew by so fast, with every spare minute flying by trying to get the garage finished in time that, when they phoned to say that the car was ready a week early, I even had to ask them to hang on until the original date as I wasn't ready for it! Just pick a project that needs two more weeks than you have available to complete and before you know it, they will be on the phone asking you to collect your MINI! Offline | Thanks Tigger, its funny you should bring up that subject as I have a good 40 - 50 years of miscelanious crap in the garage to sort out as the house i live in belonged to my grand-parents before they died and the garage is not in a state to house a new car at present. One of the hardest things I have had to deal with is the shock of my friends when i told them what i was getting. They couldn't belive that I was getting an import as i am one of the biggest holden nuts around. 12 months ago i would have laughed at anyone who said i would be buying a import, but when you fall in love with a car its imposible to resist. |

Offline | There you go, a perfect reason to clear the garage out and 40-50 years of gunge should easily keep you fully occupied! I worked on the basis that it's pointless storing a garage full of rubbish of negligable value whilst leaving a brand new MINI outside Tigger. ![]() Unintimated and I'm back!! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

Offline | Hi Mark I sympathise with your dilemma as I recently waited 4 months for our new S. I found lots of time on MINI2 sort of helped, plus I think that your garage 'project' will keep you busy. If you get a chance, please join us on a clubMINI run. All that said the time will pass really quickly ![]() Chris |

Offline | Oh this one is so easy! All you need to do is to talk endlessly about your new car and bug the crap out of anyone within listening distance. They'll soon get sick to death of hearing about it and do everything thay can to sooth the wait, just to shut you up. Well, it worked for me. ![]() |

Offline | You know whats worse is actually knowing the dealer has your car and giving you excuses its not ready because they want to take their time and make sure its perfect! Yeh sure you mean we sold your parts and we need to wait to get more in or your car was damaged in transit and we need to fix it is probably the truth especially when they tell you it had a day and a half work only on it and they had put a priority on the car as well. Im almost ready to start knocking heads. cheers michael |

| MINI2 Regular | I agree with KPKalle, I must check out the site at least 3x a day. I've ordered a couple things on-line, cubby tray and a glovebox organizer, that rush is over so I'll have to shop again. I have written on the calender the days till the car is suppost to arrive, next to the day's dates....only 35 more sleeps. Yes, my family and friends just roll their eyes now when I mention the car. Maybe I've talked too much about it? You think?I downloaded and printed out the 2005 owner's manual off the Motoring File site http://motoringfile.com/ , bottom right hand corner. There isn't a 2006 yet but I think they are pretty similar. At least you can learn a lot about the car ahead of time, so when you get in it for the first time, all the buttons, toggles, switches, etc. are all familiar. You could join your local Mini club and plan on attending some meets. In the end it's just a very painful wait but as I've been told and believe...it will be all worth it when you take delivery of your car!!! |

| -Mr T- | I waited five and a half months and in that time read a lot of stuff on these forums and went on a few MINI runs.. I had a 'shrine' set up with a bunch of models and thought the waiting would never end. We took delivery ten and a half months ago which really surprises me when I think about it. The time will pass and you'll be driving your new car around forgetting all the pain of waiting and getting delivery... A bit like childbirth really! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Just bloody deal with it okay!!! … most if us did. ![]() Haha, just kidding. The best part about the wait is remembering how easy it was once your car arrives. Sadly, that will make no sense to you just yet, and may even sound like a heartless thing to say … but trust me, it does actually make sense. Or at least, driving your MINI will make it make sense. In the meantime, stick around here, meet a few MINI2ers at various runs. We're generally only too happy to help an owner-in-waiting through the pain as most of us have been there once or twice before. I waited about 3 1/2 months for my MINI, then a kangaroo jumped into it just 3 weeks after delivery (relatively minor damage fortunately) and I had to wait another 7 weeks for it be repaired. ![]() That said, owning my MINI has been a blast and I wouldn't change anything. I can even laugh at the kangaroo incident now. ![]() ![]() Cheers Liam |

Offline | I obessively followed the car's progress through production online and then tracked it at sea and then went stark raving mad when it sat at the port in Southern California for a week. But hey, whatever works for you. |
