HELP! Mechanic needed in Adelaide

Hi all,

Have a Fidenza lightweight flywheel and a stage 2 clutch coming early next week and I need to find someone who can fit it for me.

Adelaide Motors refused to work on my car because I have some non-genuine bits on my car (just towing the company line), so I'm after someone locally that has experience working on Minis.

There are quite a few BMW workshops that do really good work, but I just don't know if they've touched Minis.

Any help appreciated as my clutch is already starting to slip!

Dave.

Is it motorised, or would I be expected to row?

On the Fifth Gear Best of British episode they film part of it on a dock and the Tampa is the ship in the background.

Still getting nowhere fast! Checking out a clutch specialist at the moment, but they're not sure they will be able to get to the clutch, so we'll see.

Next step is to look at taking a holiday to Vic for a couple of days

Hi Craig,

Was thinking about Adrian. He's keen to start working on BMW Minis, and he's good. Just not sure if he'd have the time. Always seems to be busy working on something!

Chasing up another lead at the moment, but will call him next.

Dave.

Its quite a job getting the clutch out on a Mini, so that might be your trouble... try wording up the service people @ BMW nicely??

I've been getting my MCS serviced at Adelaide Exclusive Motors. Serg (the boss) is Adelaide Motors' ex-head mechanic, and specialises in BMW and Porsche. He's got a good rep, and is always up front (ie no hidden charges that magically appear on your final bill). He's also a friendly guy.

His workshop is on Magill Road, and his number is 8431 6444.

Thanks Tintin.

All sorted now. Got a phone call yesterday from a friend who it turns out is service manager at a car dealership. He rang me up and asked if I knew anything about fitting light weight flywheels. Said to him funny you should mention that...

Booked in for a week's time so I am sooo looking forward to this! Will post details if all goes well.

Dave.
