clubMINI Classic MINI Road Run - OPH, Putty & Galston. Sunday 9th April

Hi Everyone,

Like the title says, clubMINI is going to Putty!

This one-day run is jam-packed with the kind of twisty roads that the MINI was built for. If you love driving your car on bendy country roads, this is the run for you! Starting at Cowan, we will work our way north via the Old Pacific Highway, stopping for a quick break in Wollombi. We will then continue travelling north to Broke where we will then find MINI heaven – Putty Road! This is an exceptional road, nice and bendy with a surface as smooth as glass.

We will stop for a break at the Halfway Roadhouse in Howes Valley, where you can purchase your lunch, before heading homeward across the Sackville Ferry and through the deliciously windy Galston Gorge, finishing the drive at Hornsby.

Start Pie in the Sky Cafe, Pacific Hwy Cowan. Park your car on the grass area behind the boat.

Time: 9.00am to meet and greet and have a pie and coffee infusion
9.15am briefing
9.30am depart

Cost: Free. Buy your own lunch.

Points to note:

1) The roads we will be travelling on are all sealed, except for 600 metres of relatively decent gravel road just north of Wollombi. Take care and keep your distance from the car in front to ensure that your pride and joy is not damaged.

2) If you have access to a UHF radio, bring it along.

3) Please ensure that you top up with fuel at the nearest service station to our start point, you WILL need a FULL tank of fuel for the day. There are very few service stations where we are going and none of them carry premium. (If you are coming from the south, top up at Mt Colah. If you are coming from the north, the closest fuel is at Kariong).

4) Please familiarise yourself with the clubs drive day etiquette guidelines. They can be found here

Is there space on this run for a VW? I'm probably getting my GTI on Friday or Saturday. So even if I hang at the back of the pack whilst I get used to the car and bed brakes. I would love to do this run.

"Scarlett" if your lazy a*se husband gets a new windscreen! Scarlett's crack is due to following too closely on the last Putty Run!

Unless its that bad, I would leave it until after this run. You will definately get a few more on the day.
