Undo the 3 bolts on top of each tower, place the strut brace in position, do up the bolts again. 15 min job. Looks like a nice brace to me.

Aftermarket is usually always better and cheaper than JCW gear, do some research first

Or you can just make one. Its a bar with 2 plates. The JCW won't miss you cost-wise.

made and engineered are 2 completly different things. look at the OMP STB for the R53 for example, **** it looks fantastic ! but is purely for looks, its performance is *****

Lets face it. The shortest distance between two points (however boring) is a straight line. The Mini underbonnet clutter means any straight line will be compromised so its always going to be a balance. Hence the curve in the Mini Challenge and R56 JCW strut bar.

In the end you are just trying to stop the flexing of each tower. Frankly, unless you are using some negative camber for get leverage against the tower i doubt the noticeability of a tower strut. And then it would be on hard cornering

Am happy to be shouted down on that one though. Proof is difficult to obtain. Prove me wrong at the Autocross this weekend!!

If anyone was to get a STB for their daily driver it would purely be for looks, apart from that it will have the same benefit as a carrot on a stick. Money is better spent on a front and/or rear sway bar.

Thanks to Steve for organising today's Autocross in conjunction with Stokell Motorsport. We ended up having a fairly decent turnout with a lineup of 16 Cars.

Below is the courses we flew over in the POURING rain, and also the best times each of us posted and position overall.

Hey All
1st time poster here.

You've probably been asked this a dozen times on here but....
I have an 04 Cooper S. I have an Alta CAI, Full Exhaust and am fitting an Alta 17% reduction pulley soon.

I am curious to know if there are any good tuners in Brisbane who can flash my ecu and retune it to suit my modifications.

All i have read so far is about some guys in the US doing good things but no one in Brisbane.

Any help would be marvellous.

Cheers

Hey Scuby_Snax welcome to Mini2
where in bris are you from ?

The R53'S ecu is VERY adaptive, and does not require tuning to suite mods as long as you reset it after each mod is added on. as for tuners go anyway, there are NO tuners in brisbane that actually know what they are doing with a mini and i would not trust them with my car.

Have you considered a 15% pulley ? in summer you might suffer quite abit from heatsoak with the standard intercooler, i know it did even with a 15%

Hmm i ramble to much and im late for work.

I am in Rochedale which is on the southside near Springwood.

I was considering the 15% pulley but "unfortunately" i did some reading online and ending up buying the 17% without asking for advice on hear 1st. Is there anyway around the heatsoak with the standard cooler? eg. Water Sprayers?

Another question is..... Will the standard fuel system be alright with a 17%? Or will i need to upgrade injectors etc. ?

As for the tuning, i see you can buy chips pretuned for your mods that you have, would this be a better option instead of just resetting the ecu? Ideally i would want a flash and a retune on the dyno as this would yield the best results and peace of mind im not leaning out and going to blow something up.

I appreciate the quick response to my questions.

Thanks Heaps

The mini ECU is not as adaptive as you think and as for reseting the ECU it's just a cluster reset, it does nothing to the ECU. It is just an urban myth....
