Offline | how freaky is this!! On my trip home about 50km from home at the Aboriginal rockwells (aka the beer well) I saw Dannys 02 cooper (aussieminis) ( she was having a rest with her cat ( yes cat, ) The car was strangly bought by my friend Sally, (who didin't know danny) who sold it about 11 months ago to go over seas. The lady who bought it is friends of the cooks at the local pub so I expect to see it around St George a bit more often. mini world isn;t it. And she is keen on Clubmini, so I'll drop some in for her I still haven't seen my 02 cooper though (156-hum) ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Brett, was it you i was talking to about the alternative to the Mini's version of connection for an Ipod at dinner before the glow worm run? If so, what was the name of that company you were recomending for a better installation? Cheers R56 Steve |

Offline | If you want to link up the ipod I must admit I loved the unit we saw at Motorline. We went to see the Alpine MINI at Motorline last week and they had a Cabrio with an amazing system installed. There is no CD player but you plug in your ipod and has a great screen on the head unit than you use similar to screen on ipod. When not using the screen you can have it as a clock like those old black and white flip digital ones, looks really cool and takes out the problem of only the driver being able to see the time. Cost was around $600 plus around $200 I think if you want to be able to use the steering wheel controls. Can also link to your bluetooth phone. I had never considered changing the head unit in the MINI before as we have the HK system but I really love this unit so just have to save up. |

Offline | I saw the Alpine mini too. The head unit that Alpine had (and were giving away) that works like an Ipod, is not able to be fitted to a R56 because of the Built in unit on that model, or so i was told by the techs there. So that sucks big time. However, this does not mean it could be fitted in a "different way with the unit side by side. I have moved on however, and sent many emails out to see what i can do with my Bluetooth car Kit (Sony Ericsson HCB-700), a Sat nav unit (probably a Tomtom 920), a secretly fitted detection device, and a large HDD directly and integrally fitted to run off the standard R56 gear. There is a lot of great mods available for tuner etc.. that can be patched in. The hard part is finding somebody who is mini-dedicated enough to get in-the-know and have the research done BEFORE i let them loose to learn on my car. |
