Offline | anybody know how much the chassis tuning costs for an r56? Are you able to select suspension only, or does it come in a package with brakes and strut? |

Offline | So, finally my Meth/Water sprayer turned up and it gets installed on monday. Have to take the car to a car sound place to get a board made up so I can mount the bottle and pump in the boot. Just not enough room under the bonnet!! Mounted my M7 Air Plate Diverter today to get rid of the mess infront of the radiator, so this looks neat now. Ordered my new OBX Header which should arrive on monday as it has cleared customs yesterday. Once this turns up I will replace my Ultrik/MiniMania one with this one. I also need to replace the Cat on it as the one I have has crumbled!! So I guess I could say if anyone is looking for a Catless Header, I will have one lying around and very willing to part with. Finally the Unichip gets tuned on Wednesday. So I really can't wait for next week!! Will post before and after Dyno results |

Offline | They have it worked out so you can buy all the parts separately. You could probably go to your dealer and try to get a discount for purchasing all the stuff and getting it fitted at the same time. However, i have already done some research on chassis tuning bits for an R56 and have found that the JCW springs are not available yet and the JCW tower strut bar will not fit an R56 that has the JCW Tuning kit fitted. Go figure. It all to do with the larger airbox fitted to the JCW tuning kit. I intend getting around that by changing the JCW airbox for a ALTA cold air intake air filter. As far as sway bars go, haven't checked for an R56 but my guess is thathey probably don't have the JCW stuff sorted as yet. There is 22mm sway bar available from Alta though. I haven't looked at brakes as yet. |

Offline | I would love to but I have to behave on the roads now Lost 6 points on the road at Emerald for doing 136 in a 100 zone in a mitsubishi work van That takes me over in my demerit points so now I can either take a 3 month Suspension or go on 1 point for 12 months. So I am opting for the 1 point option. So I gotta be good !! Never mind, them the breaks I guess as in my job I am always driving so I need that point. |

Offline | Hey Steve, I found that cold air intake for your car that uses the front Air Scope with a box that ducts the Air straight onto your Air box and the Air box is fully enclosed by the looks of it. You can find it on www.outmotoring.com US$448 for it mind you. Also I suppose you have checked out the Front Mount for it. Looks pretty impressive That website has quite a bit of good stuff. I buy most of my things from their. I am looking at the Boost and Oil Temp Gauges from him![]() |

Offline | The front mount i had already found and purchased. It should be getting delivered this week in time for me to have fitted at the same time they are fitting my JCW kit this week. The airbox i couldn't see unless you meant the ALTA cold air intake? If so this will be getting fitted this week also. As far as having a blast with us, if you slip into about 4th position back, you are really well protected. Its really only the first 2 who run any real risk of bumping into the law. Also there is some discussion i am trying to stimulate regarding either a track day or a dyno BBQ. These things should present little risk. Of course you could always come along as the navigator. My wife can attest to her heart and stomach being in her mouth at the same time. ![]() Only had to empty it once so far![]() |

Offline | Just had a proper look, and yes i see the cold air intake. Interesting when you consider i saw a japanese carbon fibre version of the same thing fitted to Matt's (from Motorline) new mini and i think it cost him in the vicinity of Aus$1200 landed here. I have some photos from the Auto Salon on the weekend i will post and you can see how similar it is. I am currently talking to a Carbon Fibre moulder who has done work for me in the past on some skyline bits and he is going to price me something that won't flow to a box, but will direct the cool air to my Alta filter. I have gone this way so that a tower strut can be fitted. With the sealed units no-one has sorted this out how a tower strut fits through it yet and i reckon the total package needs to be considered. |

Offline | Just had the pre-mod Dyno run on my mini. I had to fit in-between client cars so we only had time for 2 runs. The second was the better of the two, which is not surprising. I have noticed on Mini Runs how the car gets more and more punchier the more we run. Chances are we probably could have improved the figures if we ran it a few more times. Anyway, enough of the excuses; my standard Mini Copper S punched out 103kw (138HP) at the wheels @ 5600rpm and 797nm at 4000rpm. I did not think that was too bad considering the quoted flywheel output is 128kw (175HP). |

Offline | 2 weeks ago I was off down the coast and at Beenleigh in less than 2 mins I spotted 2 MINI's on the highway... it was like a convoy of us... I haven't seen that many MINI's in one place at the one time EVER! |

Offline | I wasn't too disappointed with 103kw of only the second run. As i said, probably could have squeezed anothe fewkw out, but at least i have a base figure now. After all 103 is 70% of 147.7. Have never heard of losses of only 6-11% and i have been around a while. I know front wheel drives have lower losses than rear wheel drives. Usually you expect about 1/3 with a rear wheel drive. But 103 is only 80% of the figure of 128 quoted by BMW. I actually believe that mine may be producing more than 128 beacuse i would expect the loss to be about 24%- making the flywheel figure 137. Regarding the Torque. Figures don't lie, just remember that the torque figure quoted by BMW was at 1800rpm. It is natural to produce more than that as the revs rise. Also, the V8 are probably quoting a figure at around 2000rpm or less. They produce way more when the are wailing downthe straight or up the hill in bathurst. |

| MINI2 Senior | did abit of searching in the enginetuning and drivetrain tuning forums, apparently FWD drivetrain loss in a mini is ~12%, also they quote the "Max Torque", v8 supercar Max torque is 640nm @ 2500rpm, so somehow i dont think a mini can Pull more than a 5L v8, as they thunder down the straight they would be producing more Kw's, kw determine how fast you can move something and torque is how much you can move AFAIK. so i think , infact i know your torque figure is bodged , even if it is an R56,On another note, i let my friend who has an 01 xr6 turbo have a blast down a few back roads, he instantly said im trading my car in for christmas, then yesterday we went into bmw to organise one for him, he drive the New R56, now hes trading his car in next week, i guess he liked it ![]() |
