Offline | Update from Targa Tassie Just spoke with Stu, they flew into Hobart on Satruday, cars were freighted in by Sherrin Hire, who have taken them under their wing. The boys hired a cheapy run about and did the stages around Hobart and back up to Launceston. All good, Stu says things are a lot easier this year having done it last year, they know what to expect etc. Did some more reccies on Sunday around Launceston and then were off to Symmonds Plains for the scrutineering, all went well with the mechanical scrutineering but then on the way to the technical garage Stu's power steering pump went nigh nigh's. This is where Stu really saw the difference bewteen being a privateeer and part of a Team. The Sherrin boys just stepped in, diagnosed the problem. Made calls to their contacts in Melbourne on Sunday night and had a new pump on the plane this morning and all fitted by this afternoon Stu just stood backed an watched. His words "Really generous help from the Sherrin Team". Robbo's had no such problems and is all set to go. As Stu said, the hardest bit is tomorrow, parading around various towns waving to crowds and assorted VIP's and waiting his turn to do a 3.5 minute prologue in Georgetown. All day suited up for 3 and half minutes Wednesday it really kicks off with a run over Sideling Range and down to Hobart. Stu has opted for soft compound tyres, so he wants rain, otherwise, as he said, he's screwed! Forecast is for rain Thursday when they are doing the Huon Valley out of Hobart, and we know it always rains down there So best of luck to the boys for tomorrow's prologue, I'll talk to him after it and post more details as they arise.
