Stay tuned because clubMINI is arranging a 14 day tour of Tasmania for February 2007, details will be posted real soon once i finalise or the bookings and costs, this will be a National clubMINI event so we hope to have lots and lots of MINI's running around Tassie, which is just the best MINI place in the world.

Just spoke to Stu he and Robbo and all the other MINI's are doing fine after Day one of competition.

Stu was very happy with his Prologue result, he said he was only giving it 85% and did not expect such a good time.

Today's first three stages are what he calls settling in stages, with easy times for everyone to clean sheet. All went well.

After lunch the timing gets more precise and the competiton hotter. Stu was very happy with his performance and although the resultts for the day are not yet known he felt he went well.

Stu was very pleased to have got past his infamous "off" corner from last year without a hiccup and is gunning to bring home that elusive plate this tear which THAT corner denied him last year.

Steve is navigating well for Stu and, as Stu says, all he has to do is get used to someone yelling instructions at him from the passengers seat, I would have thought he would have been used to that from Carrie.

Sherrin Motor sport continue to support our boys checking over the MINI's after each competition stage. The lead MINI driven by Sherrin is going really well but blew an exhaust gasket half way through the day so it was down on power during the afternoon, it will be interesting to see how that affects his times. The Works MINI's are going well, with one particularly fast driver, but there has been a protest lodged against them for using a Works rear wing which is not legal in this event, a hearing is being heard tonight. They also seem to be changing drivers and this is not allowed in the rules, so there is a bit of sorting out to be done there. I noted that Grant Denyer was on the boat from Melbourne this morning and said he would be reporting from Tassie tomorrow, so not sure how he is going to get a drive when he has missed the prologue and Day 1? His name is still on the MINI apparantly.

Anyway, tomorrow's first stage is over the Sideling Range on the way to Hobart and Stu is really looking forward to that, he said his tyres were hanging in there nicely despite the dry conditions.

More reports tomorrow night.

I heard those wings add about 10kW at the iron, so lucky they're getting them looked at.

No news yet, Stu's not answering his phone, probably too busy having a fun time in Hobart (let's hope so anyway)

Quick summary.

good day to day. clear weather. This morning was a very technical run over The Sideling, for those of you who do not know this stage its penultimate Targa 14kms of tight twisty uphill, an insane 1km long straight and then down the other side. Very technical and challenging.

All of us have arrived safe and sound in Hobart, although the Sherrin support team lost a Porsche on the day, nothing serious more hurt pride.

Official times should be posted soon, I have an incorrect time for one stage (recorded 30secs out) and hope this is fixed overnight.

Tomorrow is a short day around Huon Valley so should be able to post some early thoughts tomorrow night

Stage results for today are on the Targa website but not overall results as yet, but how about this, Stu and Steve were the second fastest MINI on the Sideling and only one second behind the very experienced Leahy and Flintoft Works MINI, that is brilliant

Robbo is sitll going very well too, a few seconds behind Stu on most stages, and generally our Boys are ahead of the third Works entry. They are doing exceptionally well

I was pretty happy with that result, seeing that I also had to slow down the overtake a car in front on the downhill run. Result could have been even more interesting!!

Day 2 results are not complete as Stage 11 is missing due to timing errors. Not sure what stages are included or not so have to wait till they sort that one out
