| Aus liebe zum automobil | Damm I just caught this on a ch 10 news update. Yes Liam it was a PW MCS that crashed, seemed to be quick and ran up an embankment. Hope the spectators are ok. Glad it wasn't Stu or Steve. On a better note. Keep up the good times ![]() |

Offline | Michael, it can't be the same drivers, as they were killed in the accident too unfortunately. Hopefully the spectators and the driver are OK and all make a speedy recovery. Dutchy. Sadly INIMINI is gone, but never forgotten. |

Even had they survived I don't think they would have been allowed to enter another Australian event. |

Offline | In all honesty, Motor racing is a very dangerous sport, and even being a spectator can be very dangerous. There has to be a certain level of understanding to this otherwise what were they doing there. I would be very disappointed if this developed into anything further than a racing accident. I really do feel deeply for the spectators and their families BUT (in all respect) they should be aware that such things DO happen and nobody should degrade it into something more than an accident (either via the media or thru the courts). But as somepne said before, there were some very lucky people who were spectators. In the video clip, it shows the tail of the S JUST skidded past the tree on the other side of the road. I would predict that if the rear had clipped the tree, the car would of rolled in a violent change of axis and injured, nay killed alot more people than what happened today. Just hope everyone comes out 100% God willing. |

Offline | Just spoke to Stu He and Steve are still going really well, This morning they had lots of short stages intspersed by long transport stages, which as Stu says, got everyone out of their rhythm. 4th dry day in a row and all tyres are starting to get really tired, this has led to quite a few offs. Stu says his tyres are "Gone" if you change tyres you incur a 2 minute penalty per tyre so everyone pray for rain for tomorrow. Stu said that after lunch there was one really long stage and as he put it "it was really insane whith lots of very high speed stuff" It even sounded like he might have firgtened himself a little. He is really chuffed about his performance so far and that of his Navigator, Steve, and so he should be. Says quite a few people have expressed their congratulations on his efforts thus far. The Denyer MINI might be out of it as it blew a drive shaft today, so looks like MINI Australia misses out on the team prize. Stu rang their head mechanic to see if they had a spare Supercharger belt and received a failry negative response in terms of helping any non Works MINI's, not very professional in this type of event. MINI Australia really need to think about who is doing what for them. On the down side today Robbo had a major off and took out a bus shelter , some cosmetic damage and scratches down one side, they think the bus shelter will cost more than the MINI repairs, but he's still going, but that means they wont receive their finishers plate. Robbo is being a bit hard on himself, but the combination of starting slow cars first and then trying to overtake means that he came into a corner too hot after passing. And as said everyone's tyres are shot. Last day tomorrow but a huge one, From Burnie to Strahan to Hobart they cover one third of total race distance in one day. Let's hope Stu and Steve can keep it together, he is hoping for high 30's finish which would be amazing Vic ![]() |
