ClubMINI NSW/ACT - Tumut Drive 28-30/04/06

Hi everyone

Just a reminder of this upcoming great event with clubMINI, we still have a few spots left so if you would like to join us please drop me a PM or contact me through ClubMINI, all details are listed below.

28-30 April, 2006

clubMINI goes to the Festival of the Falling Leaf - Tumut

Don't forget clubMINI has one of its best events coming up just next week, and you can still join us if you are looking for something really cool to do in the MINI.

The plan for the weekend is we will meet at 10 am on Friday at Pheasants Nest and drive to Canberra to have lunch in the park in front of Parliament House, Canberra looks great at this time of the year with the changing colours of the trees.

Then we head down the Monaro Hwy to Cooma and over the Snowy Mountains by the Snowy Mountains Hwy, a classic MINI road if there was ever one.

We have rooms reserved in a nice Motel in Tumut for Friday and Saturday night for just $95 per couple per night.

We will visit the local Golf club for dinner, probably in the booze bus so you can enjoy a quiet ale.

The Motel can arrange a buffet breakfast at just $14 each or $8 for continental and then on Saturday we will enjoy the fun of a real country town street parade, it really is a hoot! Then we have time to explore the extensive markets and arts and crafts displays found all over town in the beautiful gardens. Before dinner in the local hotel the town puts on a huge fireworks display in the sports park where you literally stand right under the colourful display, no missing the action here.

On Sunday after another great breakfast we have a full day of fabulous MINI Roads as we climb up through Batlow, Tumbarumba, across the Elliott Way to the highest town in Australia, Cabramurra, and then back to Kiandra and the Snowy Mtns Hwy as we make our way to Cooma and Canberra and home.

We have a few spots left and a few rooms still reserved, so if you would like to join us for this great event, please drop an email with your details to our Events Coordinator Vic Widman at events@nsw.clubmini.com.au as soon as you can.

Thanks

Vic

We have 5 MINI's participating from Friday including John and Mei Ling and Lee & Lyn (Gorocket), plus other clubMINI members, and one other member joining us in Tumut on Saturday.

This was a great drive last year and this year is going to be just as good. Nothing like the cool mountain air, twisty roads, great company and a fun country town fair to make a good weekend a real beauty

Reports from the boys and girls on the clubMINI Falling Leaf Festival Drive have been flowing in, they are having a wonderful time. Despite thinking we were too late to actually join in the parade, once the orgnaisors saw all the MINI's in town they were invited to join the parade. Should have lots of photos this time too as Michelle bailed out of her MINI (lleft James to do the driving) and followed them along the parade route getting lots of great shots. The Drive over the Snowy Mtns was great, and they spotted a few kangaroos grazing beside the road as they came into town. Everyone enjoyed the huge fireworks display last night before a great meal in a fair dinkum Aussie pub. Today they have another fabulous drive ahead of them as they head into apple country at Batlow, and then a great waterfall followed by the amazingly winding, Elliott Way as they visit the highest town in Australia, Cabramurra. then back over the Snowy Mtns and home tonight.

We've been invited back for next year's parade already so lets make it a really huge MINI event.

Did they come through Canberra on friday? We hung around but didn't see anyone so thought they might have gone another route.

I know they will have had a terrific time, we did last year.

No doubt John and Mei Ling will have heaps and I'm sure john will post them sometime tomorrow.

When they left Tumut this morning there was an unconfirmed report that the MINI's had actually won best in parade! how good would that be To be confirmed, so we'll celebrate when we know for sure.

Last report from Michelle was that everyone had made it safely back to Sydney.

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update on the Tumut run.

ABSOLUTELY UNREAL!!!

This was THE best!!
The driving, the people, the cars, the weather (I could go on and on.....).

The cars in the Parade looked excellent - a mixture of old and new Minis (6 of each) really were a hit with the locals. Although the group was small (5 cars), it really made for a really friendly, fun weekend with some of the best driving on some of the best roads (it was like watching Targa Tasmania through the windscreen).

On behalf of Lynne and Myself, I would like to once again thanks Vic for organising the run (even though he could not join in) and to all of our new friends, look forward to catching up with you again soon (and at Tumut again next year).

Hi all,

We have uploaded all the photos to Smugmug. Here is the direct link to the page.

http://newsys.smugmug.com/Cars/183959

Yes, 100% agreed with Lee on the drive these past three day. AWESOME AWESOME ROADS!! And the colours of the trees in Tumut are amazing. The photos tell you some of the landscape we have seen but it is never the same to see it right in front of you.

The highlight of all is the Tumut Street Parade. Thanks to Doug (local MINI) for inviting us to the Parade. We have 15 mins to get our cars ready. A rush maybe but it is well worth it. The people in Tumut are great and they loved the MINIs. We will certainly be back again next year.

For those of you that have never been on a clubMINI Tumut Trip, you have got to go next year. And those who have already been, you know how good it is. The locals have invited us back to the Parade next year so you've got to be in it.

Again, thanks to James and Michelle for their excellent work in leading us to all the great places. Great company and yummy yummy food.

Cheers,
JohnG & Mei Ling

I think the exterior mirror covers might be a bit much (consider we also have headrest cover with union jacks on them, but not on in the photos).

I reckon Johns photos are much better than the ones that come in an envelope from the Police Department.....
