Hi everyone

Just a quick reminder that the NSW clubMINI MINIkhana is on again 20 May at Eastern Creek Skid Pan. Starts at 8.30 am and concludes at 4pm

This is a great day of learning new driving skills, with professional drivers in the passenger seat with you. All activities are conducted on the wet skid pan and figure 8 circuit, so no possibility of tyre damage. No real high speed dangers either, you are in 1 & 2 gear mostly and controlling the vehicle in wet conditions. Braking and steering techniques are up skilled, as is the ability to control a slide on wet road and even lessons in how to do the perfect handbrake turn into the garage at home

Those wiht DSC will also learn the benefits of this marvellous safety device.

Then the day moves into the MINIkhana event which is conducted by the Eastern Creek Driver Training crew for us. This is a series of slalom, figure 8, garage etc events on the skid pan. You do several runs over each course and must maintain an average speed (set by you) The person with the closest overall times is judged the winner on the day. So its not who has the fastest car or who is the fastest driver, its about being smooth and consistent.

Thanks to Alto Artarmon MINI Garage we have our perpetual Shiled of Champions which will have the overall winner's name inscribed on it and there are trophies for the top three placegetters.

It is only a week and bit away to this great event and we need 12 Drivers to ensure that it goes ahead, I only have 4 registered thus far so we need a few more. The cost is $250 per driver, that includes all of the above, hire of the skid pan and figure 8, conduct of all the training and the event by Eastern Creek Driver Training personnel and lunch and refreshments. Non members are welcome with a small premium of $20 on top of the entry fee to cover you under the club's insurance. Spectators are free or we can cater for you for $25.

I need names and numbers real quick so please reply to this post if you are interested and provide your personal email address ( by PM if you wish) so i can send all the details etc,.

I would love to put my VW through it's paces (like I haven't already

Wish I could afford to do this event, it was seriously good fun last time. Might come down for a look-see on the day

Hi Vic,

Not sure if I am one of the 4 already, but if not, can you please add me to the list? At this stage it isn't looking good for Nick to join us, although if he is feeling a bit better he might come down for a look-see.

Yes i have you down and i thought Nick might miss out, see if he can come for a look see, i hope to be able to drop out with the day old Hot Red Chilli!

(not competing in a 10 k old MINI (yes I know what a chicken

) I won't be able to stay all day so could get Nick back home early if needed.

As for payment i will email details next week once we have the numbers, EFT into the club's account is the easiest, I'll email all the details.

Come on everyone else, this is a great event , we have 5 thus far, and need just 7 more.
