Offline | Some Local Help - Brisbane Its Kurt and Emma here from Toowoomba (Pepper White Cooper), we're looking at getting rid of the Cooper, and getting a new one (looks to be having CVT issues, and want to offload it before the trannie decides to offload by itself...) The display is showing EP, it looses power - won't get above 2k rpm sometimes, and lurches forward in drive, and then also in reverse... been happening about once a fortnight and I've been reading on here about people having identical problems and they had to replace their CVT (apparently list price inc labour was $7000 USD) Soooo.....We're looking to buy a new Cooper (I'm pushing for an S ) and wanted to know who we should speak to at either Brissy BMW or Motorline (or I guess go to Bruce Lynton on the GC).Your help would be greatly appreciated. We're thinking of heading to some dealers next week. |

| MINI Traitor | Hang on Kurt... First thing is to take it back to where Emma bought it, give them a look at it. It might be an inexpensive repair... or if it isn't...the car isn't that old and Emma bought it new if I remember. The dealer should fight for you... they might work out a deal and just charge you labour or something. You will have trouble selling it with a problem like that. Or is this not the news you wanted to hear? ![]() |

Offline | We've just been to Motorline for a software upgrade, they said the next step is to get a new computer for it, but didn't give a price. Now I was wondering why need a new ECU why not just flash to the lastest version. There's actually been a few threads on here about CVT's dying around the 3yr mark in Australia and in the US so we're looking at getting a new one with a Manual transmission. We purchased it second hand from Brissy BMW, (its 03 complianced, but Dec 02 Build) but couldn't get in to the service dept for a few weeks, so we went with the Motorline option as it was relating to Transmission and wanted it seen to as quickly as posible. Apparently a majority of US Owners have gotten Mini to chip in, and only had to pay for the parts, and they've paid for the labout, but still, going on the US prices that they've posted the whole job has been $7000 USD (9300 AUD) and half of that is labour. Thats basically a third of the price of what the car is worth, and it is out of warranty, and well I think that the money that would be spent on a new transmission would be better spent on buying a new one, and then we'll have a whole new car, not just a whole new transmission. \ |

| MINI Traitor | But what sort of trade in will you get on a car with a dead transmission. I can see the carsales ad now... "Bring your flatbed and take it for a test drive!" "First to see will push it away" I mean good luck... but I reckon the trade in will be - what they think is the repair cost... and risc value, so you'll end up paying anyway. Hopefully I'm wrong. Let us know how you go. ![]() |

Offline | In answer to original question about who to see for a new one I definately second the opinion that see Matt at Motorline. We bought our Mini last year at Brisbane BMW in the Valley but wish we had driven the extra miles the two places are totally different experiences. |

Offline | It doesn't have a dead transmission (yet), they say that there is nothing wrong with it. And if they say there's nothing wrong with it then the trade in value should reflect that. Its only just had a Mini Checkup from Brissy BMW about 3 months ago, saying all ok, then just been into Motorline for a software upgrade. If the trade in value reflects a fault, then why won't they tell us whats wrong with it. there are other reasons for a new car, but this [hopefully just a] scare just brought the other reasons to start making sense now instead of say 12 months in the future. |

Offline | There is a nice Cooper S at Towwomba for $31,000 go see Micheal there, he is very good to deal with Toowoomba let me bring my seat in for them to repair without bringing the car in. so besides the slowness. But least I could still drive the car around sitting on a box plus it's close for you and my closest dealer Failing that Bruyce Lynton are good. 1968 Mk1 Morris Cooper S 1310cc Downton Lake Green - White 1974 Leyland Mini 1098c Country Cream 2008 MINI Cooper S Chilli Pepper White - Black Roof |

Offline | Thanks Brett, I might drop in Tomorrow and have a look, after all one of the places I work is 5 minues walk. Plus I will have to say that Toowoomba BMW probably does have some of the cheapest labour around, well compatred with Motorline and Brisbane BMW. Thanks |
