Offline | Canberra Mini needs new brake pads and rotors - help Hi, my mini is up for new brake pads and possibly rotors. Does anyone know of a good brake specialist in Canberra? Also would like some advice on the brand and type of pad and rotor to get. I have done quite a bit of track work in my last car but not much in the mini - I do intend to do more track soon though - still, probably looking at 90-95% driving on normal roads. Thanks in advance |

Offline | The quickest and easiest solution might be to simply run Ferodo DS2500 pads and some upgraded fluid in with your stock rotors/pads. Try a search on MINI2 here or on NAM here. Otherwise, wait until one of the resident track gurus like robbomcs or Stu Jones sees your question. ![]() Cheers Liam (ps. You should make yourself known to the Canberra crew.) ![]() |

Offline | Thanks Liam, yeh it would be good to meet some other Mini drivers in the ACT. I am a member of the NSW Mini club but there don't seem to be may ACT outings - at least not formall outings. Thanks for the brake pad tip! Sue |

Offline | My MCS needed new rotors when and pads at about 50,000kms. I got the DBA slotted and drilled, they seem to be wearing much better than the factory rotors, no noticable difference in performance for the kind of use my car gets. If you do need new rotors and disks, maybe you should look at the JCW brakes? |

Offline | I can second that our new Jcw Mcs brakes are superior to the standard brakes fitted to the Mcs.This experience is however limited to driving on the road. we have no experience of track work . ![]() |

Offline | Just some advice on the DBA discs, they do wear alot slower than factory, and do cool reasonably well, but like any cross drilled disc I found that they cracked badly fairly quickly. You'll bin them due to cracks before you wear them out. They still lasted me maybe 40,000km, but doing track days will crack them faster. That's why I've chosen just slotted at the moment. But the slots are just about essential. They make a big difference. I'm pretty sure I actually got one of the first sets for the Mini. When I ordered them, DBA was still working out a price for them! Great to see an Aussie made product too. ![]() Feb 02 R50 |

Offline | Thanks everyone! I am pretty sure I will go for Ferodo pads then add slotted front disks. I am not sure how much the JCW costs but doubt I can afford it - just bought a house...may have to even start pushing the mini around soon.... .Sue |

Offline | JCW brake kit, which includes new pads all round and new rotors and calipers for the fronts is in the vicinity of AU$2K IIRC. Not that cheap, but not that expensive either since it has JCW logos on it. Congrats on the house too. ![]() ![]() |

| Twincharge??? | Not that hard. You want stock size stuff or beach fresbies? Stock - pads/rotors/lines/fluid. BBK - Wilwood/JCW/Brembo/DetroitTuned/StopTech (3 months waiting list..)/Tarox 10 pot lol..have I missed any BBK out there? Actually, I think the JCW is a bit of a hybrid given it's still a single pot up front except a larger rotor and just a new set of pads up the back. |
