extended warranty?

hey guys.

just wondering if anyone has purchased the extended warranty from MINI aus for an extra year. I rang up the dealers and they have quoted $995...! ouch! i didn't expect it to be that much. You have to pay the fee 15 days before your warranty runs out and that's approaching quite soon...

any takers? or is it just simply not worth it? i figure i can pay any repairs (touch wood nothing goes wrong) out of pocket and they should be less than a grand (fingers crossed)... money could be better spent elsewhere methinks!

One thing you might want to consider is when you put the car in for service, if you got no warranty, then you have to pay for the loan car. That's the case anyway with most BMW dealerships. Personally, I'm not really sure whether it's worth it or not, as I'll most likely start modding next year when the warranty expires.

In my own experience, it's well worth it. During the extended warranty, my car had a lot of things replaced that's worth a few times more than the warranty itself. Then again it's an earlier car..

actually you guys are right... 660 was the price on the official website.
man i would've been fumin if i paid 995 like the dude at alto asked. 660 sounds more... 'reasonable'

still got a few days to brew over it. or i could just screw it and get front aero kit for 1300...!

I, fortunately, didn't need to use my extended warranty. But saying that, I would still recommend getting it, and would do it again. It is like any insurance really, you don't really want to use it.

I ended up getting the extended warranty - it ended up being a good selling point when I sold the car 6 months later

saved my butt a few times, esp since my transmission died abt a week after i paid that 600 odd bux.....

the way i see it, i paid less than 10% for the new tranny....

i got an exhaust because i wanted to make my car sound fast, but its not fast at all, so therefore i am a ricer....

Like Nike says "Just Do It", it is amazing how many things went wrong in that 3rd year for me. Sat Nav system had to be totally replaced, a fan thingy went bust and alternator and that is just off the top of my head. Supercharger went Kaputz too and that would of cost me a arm and a leg and a couple of ears probably too. Nothing is cheap with the mini when it comes to repairs that is for sure. Just be on the safe side. Then maybe nothing will go wrong but Murphy's law says if u don't do it u will wish u did, or something like that.

To be honest though, if you're the first owner of the car, and you've done the right thing by MINI they will usually look after you anyway if something bad happens

Cost me $750 inc. 6months ago. Well worth it as the airbag light has needed resetting 3 times, the TPS assy needed to be replaced and several rattles etc needed to be addressed.
