Offline | Just recovering from a fantastic day/night at the Sydney Mini Launch. All set up under the big top with circus performers going throughout and free yo-yos, mini ones of course, bands, fashion shows and movie. Unlimited food and drinks, if u manage to get lots of coupons from your dealer, lol, pinballs, totem tennis, ping pong, volleyball, boccee and lots and lots of minis. Even saw one tiger mini in a cage and all. The movie was on a big screen and 8 cabrios were available to the lucky few who were selected to sit in comfort to watch the movie. The Gosling family were chosen to watch the movie in the cabrio and as they had to go, they kindly donated it to me. So as John G was busy clicking i asked Mei Ling if she wanted to join me as my other half stayed home with the kids as our babysitter got sick at the last moment. Well not only did u get to watch the movie in comfort but you got your own waitress to wait on u hand and foot, and gosh didn't she get a work out. LOL So with the backseat full and people rotating seats throughout the movie a few of us got the honour of sitting in style. After lots of chockie tarts, lemon tarts, lollies, popcorn, lollies, coffee and champagne, i know that i certainly felt a little ill. Never pigged out so much. The Madalways were in the car to our left and another older couple who came down from the coast in the bus with us were in the cabrio to the right. After the movie, the couple to my right were commenting on how much fun the car next to them was obviously having with all the giggling and food being delivered, they didn't even know it was me. PMSL Have to say that it was a TOPS night under the big top. Well done mini australia!!!!! ![]() ![]() Last edited by aussiesupermini : Mar 18th, 2007 at 11:30 PM. Reason: used wrong persons name |

Offline | Thank you, thank you and another Thank You, Gosling family for donating the cabrio movie prize to me too. Was great to catch up with heaps of people i hadn't seen in ages, Hello all! Oh and our bus had a run in with a tow truck on the way to Sydney, he sideswipped our bus, only minor damage and everyone was fine. Just a little excitement to start the event off. LOL Got home by the coach provided by worthington and got home just before midnight before i turned into a pumpkin. ROFL ![]() ![]() |

| tag, you're It | What a great day/night we had. Mini Oz did a great job in the way they put the new models on display in both visual and hands-on. While they weren't able to allow punters to drive the new models around in was still good that they took passengers around the streets surrounding Moore Park. I liked the interior finish of most of the cars on display but found it difficult to like the bonnet and engine bay, especially the bogus scoop. The only downer of the night, the movie was not one featuring Mini's. And alot of the crowd cleared out when they realised that. Luckily I have today off work to recover from the none stop action of yesterday. Mini Cirque pics |

Offline | Ah, there were test drives for those who wanted to drive themselves. I just went and signed up at the Canterbury MINI stand. It was a bit confusing though. The chauffer driven ones were near the food carts, but if you walked around the corner to the left a bit further, that is where the dealers had their cars for test driving. So, if you are going to the Brisbane and Melbourne events, make sure you sign up for the drive yourself test drive ![]() I test drove the new Cooper S - there was a 2 hour wait, but there was plenty to do, so just wandered over a couple of hours later There are a few style things on the new MINI I am not as keen on - the lights being a big one (and with the gap between the lights and the bonnet - lets just say it's gonna be a bug trap on a run - yukky). Driving one, however, was a pleasant surprise! It helped that the guy to accompanied me on the test drive said he encouraged his test drivers to 'give it a bit of stick', so, naturally, I complied ![]() The steering is a lot lighter, but doesn't lose it's great handling and response. The clutch is lighter and the gear box is so smooth and the gear changes are shorter. As for the power - one of the guys from Canterbury summed it up nicely - very similar power, just a slightly different way of delivering that power throughout the rev range. They have slightly bigger brake kits, which work very well They stop surprisingly fast! (apparently the JCW kits will improve further on this - yikes).I'm sure I'd miss the supercharger whine, but was surprised at the nice sounding exhaust I will be hanging on to Megan for some time to come, but would not say not to upgrading to an R56 when the time comes. Never thought I'd say that, but there you go. |

Offline | Had a great time at the Sydney Mini Cirque on Sunday. We had to leave early though and missed the evening events. What was the movie they screened? Can't understand how they could have gone past the opportunity to screen "The Italian Job" (either version). |

Offline | Not "Best in Show"? Best in Show (2000) It's perhaps one of the funniest moofies I've ever seen. I love Harlan Pepper and his Bloodhound-doggie ![]() ![]() Powerful like a gorilla, yet soft and yielding like a Nerf ball. Now, at last, I have found it |
