Talking Run Flat Tires & JCW Kit

Hello there,

This is my first post so sorry if I get anything wrong.

I am thinking of changing my rims on my mini and have been also thinking of putting tires other than run flats on them.

I have been told the cars handle better on non run flat tires, does anyone know if this is true? Also does anyone know if non genuine rims void your factory warranty?

On another note I am seriously thinking about putting a JCW kit on the car, the best price I have so far is $9,850 fitted. Interested in views on whether people think the kit is worth the money.

Cheers,
David

For info on the tyres check out this thread. http://www.mini2.com/forum/wheels-ty...australia.html

As for the JCW kit, it really comes down to personal preference. It's a debate that's been going on and on. Basically it comes down to this. If warranty is a major factor and concern, then stick with the JCW. It's been proven and works well.

Otherwise, there are plenty of cheaper options that provide similar output and characteristics. It's just up to you to do the research and decide for yourself what is important.
Basically (correct me if I'm wrong guys), 15% pulley, ECU map, CAI, and Exhaust and you're getting close to JCW figures and probably half the cost. Mind you another thing to consider in going the custom non-JCW route is labour costs. If you can DIY, then this isn't a factor, but if you've got no mechanical bone in your body, this is a cost you need to consider, and if you're doing this in bits and pieces, then the JCW kit maybe a cheaper option.
