Offline | Hi, Stu and I are both competing I have John Ladavac (Lad on M2) as navigator, while Stu has a new navigator, who has the advantage of weighing 45kg We head down to today, and will spend a full day tomorrow on recces, then Monday on scrutineering and briefings before the event kicks off on Tuesday. There are 9 minis which are competing, which should be fantastic I think the main "mini" competition between the minis is going to be between privateer Iain Sherrin and 2 of the factory minis driven by Paul Stokell and Grant Denyer, with Stu Jones as a "smokey". Iain is a very fast driver, and has a fast car. At Mt Buller in November he managed to beat all 3 factory minis. However, Paul Stokell did not drive in Buller, and is a very experienced driver, and has done Targa many times. Stu also has a fast car, and his driving has improved out of sight, but his navigator is an unknown quality, and he also has a bad back To add spice to the situation, Paul Stokell is actually employed by Iain Sherrin, and works for Sherrin Racing as their chief driving instructor. Iain only entered at the last minute, once he found out that Stokell was driving the mini After crashing my car in rally tasmania my goal is to finish this event with the car intact, so I'll probably be near the rear of the field of minis I'm desperately hoping for it to be very wet, as the mini is very competitive in the wet, and I also am a fast driver in the wet We are being transported and serviced by Sherrin motorsport, so they will have 4 minis vs the factory 3 minis. We know all 3 of the factory mini drivers well, having competed against them many times. Also, several of the Sherrins mechanics are ex BMW, so they know all the the factory mini mechanics very well. It should make for some intense, but friendly competition I'm also looking forward to catching up with long time competitors Craig Williams in his cooper, and the Japanese driver Nob The event is going to be huge this year, with 285 cars, which is close to the record. I'll try and post during the event, if I get time and internet access Cheers Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |

Offline | Ian Sherrin's navigator is **** Seung - who would also weigh in at about 45kg's and is rather experienced in the drivers seat and the nav's seat.... I think they'll be a force to be reckoned with! |

Offline | It's going to be awesome having so many MINIs competing. Good luck against Paul Stokell Being the competitor he is, I don't think he'll be wanting to give Iain an inch Should make it very interesting.Maybe just make sure there is someone waving Paul on, when Iain is around, as this seems to give Iain an instant surge of "right, that does it" and watch his time improve ![]() Robbo, please give my good luck wishes to Iain, Grant and Stu (and of course to you too). Give those factory MINIs a run for their money But all in all, I wish all the MINIs good luck and that they finish the race in one piece. Just tell them how much you got billed for last year, and that should scare them ![]() |

Offline | Good luck Robbo et al. Just bring YOURSELVES back in one piece. That's the most important thing. Our sport's had a lot of bad luck and bad publicity of late. and remember to have fun! I love Warsaw. Where else can you hug a pole? ![]() If you have any information, any information at all, please contact me as I'm writing an encyclopaedia. |
