Tried and tested - side airbags work

Long story short....people need to learn how to stop when the light is RED!

I'm very surprised at how well i pulled up after the accident, only slight pain on the right hand side of my face from the airbags perhaps, not sure.... It doesn't look too bad but she hit me at approx. 65km/h and spun me. Lucky I was on the higher side of the road.

OMG Charles - I am glad you are OK, though the MINI looks like it'll need a bit of work.

...let me guess, you were driving in Sunnybank when you got hit right?

Ruben...it was the intersection at pinelands/symons rds... Yer, I am ok. I know it has been said on these forums heaps but I'll say it again, it's testament to the quality of the MINI. You never really think about it till it happens to you. The airbags did their job, but damn it was smokey in there. Door obviously wouldn't open so I had to climb out of passenger door. hmm I wonder if I will get a new driver's seat...

That & the fact that I remember Sunnybanker always telling me how careful I need to be when I ventured into his old suburb

Holly crap Charles, glad your ok. I never thought I would see anyone I knew in one of these "how good is the Mini in an accident" threads. If you did get hit at 65km/h then it stood up well to the impact, but it may be a right off if the frame is bent badly. Hope your insurance comes through and either fixes it as good as new or replaces it with a new one.

Hey if your really keen on an R56 Cooper this might be a hidden blessing (have to look on the bright side )

To be honest, I am not quite sure how fast she could have been travelling....but the limit on that stretch of road is 70, she didn't hit her brakes at all i dont think...no tyre marks or anything...so shed be doing at least or close to 60. I'm not sure whether or not I want it to be a write-off.....but my only concern is that a BMW travelling at that kinda speed would have done more damage than what it appears to be....

Insurance have told me that they're going to send the car to smash repairers for assessment, but I would have thought they'd assessed it at the assessment centre... will hafta wait and see
