Offline | OK heres the cold facts for all the dreamers amoung us... ![]() ![]() Car wiil be $85k (sorry not ADR or road registerable!!). Franchise will be $30k outright. Fees for eight rounds will be around $45k. Event will definately be pigeon holed onto Carrera Cup taking advantage of the increased TV coverage CupCar purchased this year. Cars will have a model lifecycle of 5 years (i.e. no change in model) this was one of the CAMS criteria, a long lifecycle for cost effective one make racing. Current expectations is that will cost $130k per year to run a car with event seats going for $15-$20k (not sure who said Carrera Cup was a $20k run, more like $50!!) Interest to date has been very high, yearly team running costs are similar or less than high level formula ford so a good pool of interested drivers. Personally dont think I will drive a car but am interested in putting a car in with some solid young talent. Think this could be an even better exposed and covered series than Cup Car if current sponsor interest to go by. Only time will tell............ 2002 BRG MCS with more mods than can remember The thieves choice in race cars ![]() 2005 BEP MCS stock standard and staying that way |

| MINI2 Regular | Interesting figures, out of my league ![]() $20K per round for a buy a drive, I am no expert but I think that is steep for a mini. If I had that sort of money, maybe I would look at this; My105.com :: F430 Challenge For Lease GOod luck to those who are in |

Offline | Well I'm putting my hand up first to be the coffee boy for you. Hell, I'm old (read:30), bald, and at the moment driving a 1990's BMW with woodgrain trim. I think I need a new blanket to keep my knees warm. I know I can drive the wheels off one (evident by my broken Mini stuck in the yard awaiting a gearbox), but I can't justify grabbing the spotlight of being a driver. I'm keen to be involved, and would love a drive, but that's unlikely to happen. ![]() Feb 02 R50 |

| MINI2 Regular | From the horses mouth, well from a friend how races in the Carrera Cup series. An arrive and drive is $30,000 - $40,000.00 per round. This is from a top 3 finishing team, who I believe has just leased a drive for Sandown @ $35,000.00. If you put that into perspective I think the minis are a little high. Each to their own I guess. Anyhow will be great to watch. |

Offline | Hi, Good luck to the people selling a carrera cup arrive and drive seat for that price. The driver must be really something special, either in driver ability or sponsorship potential If I turned up tomorrow would they sell me the seat for the same price? I don't think so Average Joe cannot turn up and buy a carrera cup seat for $35k per round, especially for somewhere like sandown. At $35k per drive that would be $300k for a 9 event carrera cup season ![]() ![]() ![]() Can you please put me in touch with the top 3 team offering these deals, as I will be joining the line to sign up along with dozens of others bright eyed hopefuls ![]() You may think the minis are priced a little high. I personally think the costs amortised over 5 years are pretty reasonable, including ownership of the car, compared to other comparable series with similar TV exposure. I can assure you if you do the same sums for carrera cup (ie actually owning the car, including maintenence, franchise, entrance costs, transport etc etc) the costs are much, much higher by a frightening order of magnitude ![]() It is worthile remembering that the TV coverage is a major factor, which is probably worth $50k+ in sponsorship to serious contenders. Ultimately market forces will come into play, and people will decide where they want to spend their money to get best value. The mini series may be a great success or may crash and burn, only time will tell ![]() ![]() ![]() Either way, I agree it will be fun to watch ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |
