| MINI2 Newbie | Front number plate holder When I picked up my car, the dealer fitted a standard 6 digits long slimline plate onto the front bumper. I had a close look today, they basically screw the plate directly onto the bumper I have a personalise plate wanting to use but it is 5 digits in length, so it will not cover the existing holes. Is there a back plate I can get from the dealer? |

Offline | What you want is the OEM black plastic number plate mount. See part number 12 in the following link RealOEM.COM * BMW R53 Cooper S TRIM PANEL, BUMPER, FRONT COOPER S A hand full of minis came into Australia with these as standard but that was apparently a result of a stuff up with the factory ordering system. I think they come standard on cars sold in some countries though. Anyway, copy down the part number, take it to the dealer and get them to order it for you ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | I have a brand new one of these if you want it. The panel Beater ordered it for my car when I got a new front bumper but I never fitted it (on account of the fact that they don't look that good IMHO). You can have it for free - just have to cover the postage from Brisbane and it's yours ... did I mention it's pretty fugly (apologies to the people who have one on their car already )Gregg QuickBrick |

Offline | They're not that bad and it's not like it sounds like they have a choice other than forking out a whole lot of money to have the holes fixedJan 06 MCS Checkmate |

| MINI2 Newbie | thanks Greg for the offer, really appreciated. I went to BMW today and yes, I must agreed with you, it is fugly. They gave me a better solution, use the existing platecover, put my 5 digits plate on it, mark out the area that is sticking out (the clear section), then spray paint it black that way, I can use the existing holes, and cover since the plate is only marginally smaller (1 inch on each side), the thicker black frame will not look too bad![]() |
