Hi all,

I've been poking around here today trying to find some local mini activity, ie. Sunday social outings and leisurely mini cruises in Melbourne, but I'm struggling to find much activity down this end of the world. (though I did notice the recent BMW meet)

I had a look on the clubMini site (and emailed em), but couldnt find much in the way of upcoming dates. Is it just me looking in the wrong places, or is their really not much going on down here at the moment??

I joined the clubmini about 3 weeks ago (for VIC), got confirmation that they have received my form and fees but I am yet to receive any news on any of the event or a membership card or a cap:P

Hi All,

Things are a bit under the pump with the club at the moment.

but we are hoping to be back in full swing at the end of September.

We have our annual AGM coming up. A MINI Golf Cup and Our annual Great Ocean Road run.

We usually have a meet once a month and other activities. And with the nice weather coming things should really start hotting up! There is a track event on the Grand Final weekend that you can go and watch and a few members of the club will be there!

Haven't posted for ages but the mention of the GOR caught my eye. I will be heading off this weekend hopefully to explore an alternate, more mini friendly, route to Apollo Bay. For any who know the Otways at all - Turtons Track is almost sealed. A road to rival many of the ones we enjoyed in Tassie with club mini. I am sure I can find a fully sealed inland route.
Have started to see a few more minis around Geelong recently - 2 spring to mind a DS S with q'land plates near the hospital and a dark blue S (rego TTB ...) near the tax office.
Chuckled at a few number plates the other day: Red Commodore, doofdoof music, cap backwards, seat reclined, neon washers, HRT xxx (must be having hot flushes despite the HRT)
STD - ?!don't go near unless wearing protection
RPD - maybe an "in" joke for my industry = Removable Partial Denture
I accept it was late at night when I saw these and I was tired.
Rumours around Geelong that the speed trials would be back next year have turned out to be false.
Rumours of a motor sport centre cw drag strip, club circuit, F1 capable circuit etc near Avalon can be confirmed - fully funded by o'seas interests and now at environmental impact/coucil stage - should be good. Maybe Geelong can steal the F1 from Melbourne before Sydney does and lift the football cup thingy.
For myself - only 8 hours 'til the world cup starts - all recorders in the house set.

Word on the street is that the old Gee town is going to host the 2010 round of the World Cycling championships... not to mention it being in a right royal buzz over the footy... still a few big hurdles to overcome before the Cats can cheer for a Grand Final victory, but heres to hoping...

I see ITSNS every now and then - in a random sample of vehicles that Stephen never seems to take notice of :P

It's good to hear the Great Ocean Road run is still an Annual event... great memories... someone's roof lining will never be the same again!!!!

The next drive will be on the 23rd. The GOR hasn't been confirmed yet but will let you know when it is.

I don't know what is wrong with the website, it is news to me! But I should know. I will find out!

Thanks for the info, Rellik...unfortunately, the client needs me to work up here in Brisbane over the weekend, so I shall not be able to get back home for the weekend. I was so looking forward to my first clubMINI drive, too!...;-(

Still, there will be other opportunities, I hope.

Well there is the MINI Golf Cup on the 21st Oct ober and there should be a drive the following weekend. I will let you know when the GOR will be. That would be a great start to your club MINI lifestyle!

Many thanks, Rellik...I will certainly be looking forward to doing the GOR in the MINI. I was up there a couple of weeks ago on the motorcycle and had a great time...and even managed not to get booked!

Usually leave at 8:15/8:30 about an hours to an hours and half drive, followed by breakfast, prob an hour to get back, but we all make our own way home from wherever we stop. We are going to Healseville this week.

Bring a radio if you have one, or we have spare. Look out for LY and Black striped MCS!

Nice car can't wait to see it!
