Offline | Bowling.. with MINIs (Sydney) In lieu of a stand at the upcoming Sydney Motorshow, MINI are holding a 'bowling' event instead.. The idea is you get to throw various supplied MINIs at some inflatable 'pins' in a Sydney car park, prizes up for grabs for the most pins knocked down in the allotted time period. October 13-14. Anyone going? More info: MotoringFile Last edited by swgn : Sep 21st, 2007 at 06:06 AM. Reason: fixed the link ;) |

| Mad Modder | [quote=swgn;3164622]In lieu of a stand at the upcoming Sydney Motorshow, MINI are holding a 'bowling' event instead.. No Mini stand at the motor show again!!! What's the story BMW??? This is a poor substitute for a stand featuring the latest JCW & Challenge Cup cars i was hoping to see, not to mention the Clubman. If this info is correct i'm not impressed. ![]() |

Offline | [quote=steve11;3164628] Hi, The mini challenge cars are not going to land in the country until February 2008 so they are not available. The JCW also is unavailable. Mini are not the only ones to make a non appearance. Porsche has not appeared at the last couple of motor shows. It is a commercial decision, based upon the exorbitant costs that the motor show charges, vs the number of punters through the door. The costs of being an exhibitor has increased significantly. At the same time, the organisers are trying to gouge more money out of the punters through door charges. The bottom line is is everyone is unhappy The car companies pull out, because they perceive they are not getting value for money, and the punters complain because they are not getting value for money ![]() Cheers Robbo I Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |

Offline | Check out this video that I shot on Saturday afternoon (sorry about the size [6.7MB] and quality [old digital camera]). I didn't hang around long enough to have a go but from what I could see, the driving was restricted to stunt drivers only - you only got to go along for the ride. They also had one of the MINI Challenge cars on display. |

Offline | Porsche is at the show this year too aren't they? I used to like looking at a 911 Turbo and saying to mrs mingolf, "look, there's our house". Fortunately real estate has still risen a bit since we moved and I can probably raise the budget to an F430, with a spare S3 for daily commuting. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Thanks. Yep, the challenge car was there too ... here's a PHOTO. Note the stick on license plate that refused to stay stuck (it fell of moments before this photo!). |
