| You are number 6 | Brett, Harpo has changed to a Cooper D now, it goes very well ![]() I drove a diesel hire car in the UK recently and was very impressed. ![]() Better fuel consumption compensates for the higher price. It seems that the official line is that there is no demand for diesel versions in Australia so if everyone keeps asking their dealers the message might get through. Better still email MINI direct as sone dealers are probably not interested enough to pass the information back to MINI. |

| Keeping The Top Off! | I think that it is a very short sighted view from BMW/MINI. Although the diesel market in Australia is not the same as the UK or Europe, diesel is on the minds of the large car manufacturers here. Diesel is the only way that the large car market is going to come back to the way it was here, and even that is a long shot. Diesel development is going to grow here, BMW should get in quick with the diesel small car market. The price of petrol is never going to drop to the levels of the past and the Australian Public are starting to realise that! Emissions Regulations are also going to get tighter and tighter. So I see no sensible reason for not bringing the Diesel here! It is like the one being available in NZ and not here! All a bit silly really! (well I am sure it is to do with money and the fact that people will buy the cooper if there is no one! And pay more for it!) But you get my point. Sorry for rambling! I think I am as confused as BMW at the moment! :-) OH MY OH MY! I own a Sidewalk!Almost......... |

Offline | Hi, What I find puzzling is that BMW has embraced diesel technology in other car models. Allegedly 75% of current X5 sales in Australia are the diesel version. They are also selling significant numbers of the 3 series 320d and the 1 series 120d. So they should know there is a market out there, and they have obviously invested in the infrastructure to service and maintain diesel engines, so why don't they introduce the diesel mini ![]() Cheers Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |
