Offline | Venue, time and other details Right, this ain't easy, but let's give it a shot. I chose somewhere pretty central to all parties especially those coming from Geelong and Healesville. I chose the time so that it doesn't cut into everybody's day yet gives us time to intoduce ourselves and still have a drive around some good Melbourne roads. Venue : Studley Park Boathouse, meet in the carpark, get some coffee and sit under a rotunda or tree. The Boathouse has a cafe which should be open still at that time. It's going to be 25 but a little windy, though this is very sheltered in a gorge down by the Yarra river. Very pretty spot. And it's just off the Boulevard which is a road specifically designed for the Cooper 'S'. Fun drive in and out. The Boathouse is Melways map 2D, ref F8, best to get onto the road leading to it by heading East along Johnston St away from Collingwood and Abbotsford. Watch for the sign to the Studley Park Boathouse and the narrow and sharp turnoff as you head up the hill towards Kew. Follow the signs for about 300m and you'll get to it in a minute or two. Time : 3pm till 4pm. If you're running late, don't worry, we'll hang around till 4pm then head off for a drive say down St Kilda Rd to St Kilda, along Beaconsfield Rd then into the city. Or a slow convoy along trendy Chapel St. We'll discuss this over a coffee. Starters : Spazz, WAY (got his car back today), Boo (in a rented Cooper down from Sydney), Nick_K, Coops41, CoopeR (Geelong crew), and MINICS (from Healesville with wife and kids) and my wife Rhonda and me. Feel free to bring partners, friends. No pressure either way. Still waiting on disdis, freek and Gripper to advise if they're coming. If I've left anyone out for god's sake let me know. So it's going to happen and I hope that you are all part of it. If you can't make it there will be others. I know that it will be great to put names and faces to handles and to get some great photos (camera, please Spazz) of a collection of these fabulous machines. Bring along tyre pressures too. Regards, see you there. Post if you're coming please. ElTel (Tez) |

Offline | Today's Meeting Well, we met today. First to turn up was Nick_K (Nick), then me (Tez and wife Rhonda), then coops41 (Scott), then Boo (Andrew and partner Melody, down from Sydney), followed by MINICS (Andy and wife Vanessa and two boys), then Cooper (Matt and friend Jamie, up from Geelong), and last but not least Spazz (Az). WAY sent his apologies, and I'm not sure what happened to Gripper (hope everything is ok). We met at the Studley Park Boathouse, and being a sunny warm day (although very windy) the car park was chokkas. Nevertheless, we all managed to get parking spots eventually. After inspecting each others machines, we sat down and chatted for a good hour, moved the cars for a photo shoot, then some of us went home and a few drove into Lygon St and got some nice stares and jaw drops. Thanks to all who attended, and sorry to those who missed out, I'm sure that we will all soon be going on a longer drive. Most of us took some photos, so stand by for some snaps to be posted before too long. WE had Nick's (Nick_K) DS/W MCS, Scott's (coops41) EB/W MCS with beaut bonnet stripes, Matt's (CoopeR) CR/W MCS, Az's (Spazz) EB/W MCS, Tez's (ElTel) LY/W MCS, and Andrew (Boo) had a rented CR/B MC (CVT). Andy and Vanessa's (MINICS) are expecting their Black/White MCS in November). There were many people passing who were truly stunned and extemely delighted by seeing this assembled bevy of beauty. A collection like this is very rare and was a major surprise to the other vistors to the park. It was all over too quickly and I'm looking forward very much to our next turnout. Thanks to all, ElTel Last edited by eltel : Sep 15th, 2002 at 02:36 PM. |

Offline | well well well.... u guys are probably wondering where the hell i had been... mmm... so close yet so far away.... firstly, i didnt even know there's a meeting today, and certainly didnt know where it is held... (hvnt been on the net for long time) Anyway, me, my gf and another couple just finished yum cha in Doncaster and didnt know where to go. So we decided to drive down to the Boathouse to hv a coffee and guess what!?? i saw one of the best collection of cars in the carpark... what a coincidence! well, i should hv introduced my self to u guys (i saw Spazz- the funky haired guy with white tee?) but i was a bit shy.... anyway, if u see the green bmw coupe with yellow interior- that's mine! and yeah, i was the little asian dude staring at the red MCS when u guys were crowded around it (the red does look a treat- but too much like a cooper).... i was surprised at the general age of MCS owners. (sorry, dont mean to be rude...) but i (22 y.o.) is certainly the youngest one out there today. i felt like i wasn't fitting in if i just went up to introduce myself.... after checking out all the MCS whilst u guys were having coffee (dont worry, i didnt touch any cars!), i finally concluded that my choice of DS/W was correct. and the 17" alloys is a must! my delivery is postponed till jan 03, and will definitely join u guys nxt time. i'll bring along sushi or something... |

Offline | Well a fun time was had by all... I know there will be better photo's of us all but here is one of the lot of us. disdis you should have said hello to us all. That was my red cooper s that you were looking at ... and just quietly I am 24 so there is not much age between us both ! I have to say it was a pleasure to meet all of you and I look forward to doing it again. Thanks Eltel for organizing the event it was great to chat to other people who share the same passion I do with the car. A special thanks goes to Andrew (boo) and Melody for joining the Victorian gathering by renting the QLD plated MINI. I look forward to catching up with you all for the next chapter, and hopefully there will be a couple more cars to join the convoy ! I have now got 400km/s on the car I will post a report very soon. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark and we're wearing sun glasses. Hit it! Last edited by CoopeR : Sep 15th, 2002 at 02:38 PM. |
