Offline | Victorian (Australia) Meeting Calling all Victorian owners and waiters. ![]() It's been flagged for some time that Sun Sep 15th would be a reasonable date to meet. WAY is rightly keen to have a drive out to Melbourne's NorthEast and meet back near the city for a bite to eat. At this stage it looks like there will be a drive (optional) starting at 11am out to Healesville/Kinglake and a lunch/BBQ/coffee probably closer to the city at about 2pm. Spazz (Aaron) can't make the drive and can't get to the lunch until about 3:30pm. MINICS (Andy & Vanessa and two teenage sons) are from Healesville but are attending a soccer match just behind my house in Wantirna South, so we'll all probably miss the drive and head off from here about 2pm and head towards the city for a 3pm meeting. That includes us (ElTel and wife Rhonda). So, Nick_K, CoopeR, Coops41 and Cooper.au and all others please let us know if you can make the drive or can come to the afternoon meeting. We hope that everyone who has an interest in Coopers can come to meet the others. You don't need to own or drive a Cooper or a Cooper S. Please post your thoughts here soon so that we can finalise details. Regards, ElTel (after discussions with WAY). Last edited by eltel : Sep 9th, 2002 at 09:18 AM. |

| MINI2 Regular | Sounds fantastic!!! Id love to meet up with a few more Melbournians, past, present and future owners! The perfect opportunity to check out some "lived in" cars other than your dealer's demos, and meet some pretty great people too! We are still undecided about a venue, so if anyone has any suggestions, they will be much appreciated. |

Offline | A little problem Seems like the guy who is most keen for a drive (me!!!) may not be able to make the drive afterall. Why you ask? Well, my car is still in BMW Bodyshop to get the exhaust fixed, and they have not even started the work yet. I will have to confirm tomorrow evening whether I can make the drive or not. My suggestion is to meet somewhere in Doncaster for a drive down warrandyte and towards Kinglake, go through Healsville and back to Melbourne. Should not take us any longer than 2 hours. ElTel and Spazz, I will leave the later meeting for you guys to organise. The people who are going for the drive will just meet up with the rest later. How does that sound??? |

Offline | Thanks to Nick_K and coops41 for responding. That's tough about your repair WAY. We hope that your car is back on the road again soon. Seeing that we will be meeting at 3pm and that the weather looks like it might be a bit damp (showers predicted in the afternoon) we should pick a dry spot where we can get away from the weather. I was thinking of somewhere central, eg Camberwell Malvern area, even Williamstown, somewhere where we can park our cars in one bunch and keep our eyes on them. A place that serves good coffee, and can accommodate 10-12 of us. Please make some suggestions. Sofia's Pizza in Camberwell? Cafe in Glenferrie Road? You younger guys must know of one or two appropriate places. Friday night will be the deadline for suggestions, and I'll PM everyone with the venue and time. Partners or mates welcome. My phone is 0414 44 22 09 if you'd rather verbalise. Regards, ElTel Last edited by eltel : Sep 10th, 2002 at 07:36 AM. |

Offline | Off the List All, Thanks for the messages inviting me to this get-together. As some of you may know, I've had to cancel my Cooper S due to sad personal circumstances that mean I can't go ahead with it. Cost me $4k and a lawyer to get out of it..... So, I am officially off the list. For sure I'll still be cruising the forums (can't get it out of my system just yet), but a visit to the meet may just be a bit too much to bear. Thanks and have fun Me Mota ![]() Cancelled.... (Cooper S, Dark Silver with white roof, Full leather (Lapis Blue / Black), 17" S spokes, DSC, interior lights, MFSW and Cruise Control, Xenons, Climate Control. Delivery early / mid-October) |

Offline | I am still unsure if I will get my car back. The latest I heard was that certain parts are not available. However the most important part (exhaust) is sitting next to the car. They will install the exhaust and straighten up what they can and put it back. If not my car will be out of commision for a few weeks (already out for 2 weeks!). No guarantee I will have the car back by the weekend, so will have to let you guys know later. |

| 1151bhp/tonne | I would love to do this meet, I spend a bit of time in Melbourne every year, and I love the city. the idea of driving a MINI down St Kilda road is very appealing. It is just a shame me and my MCS are 12000 miles away. Have a blast guys. ![]() ![]() Black to the future.... |

Offline | That sounds great Boo. We'd love to meet you and your girlfriend, and give you a warm Melbourne welcome. I'll PM you when we've established exactly where we're meeting. It will be at 3pm Sunday however as that's the best for those attending. Let's hope that your flight allows you to spend some time with us. Melbourne is pretty easy to get around, but best to buy a weekend CityLink pass for $8.90. Have a look at this document from the transurban site. http://www.transurban.com.au/resourc...8200216402.PDF Various parts of the freeway system are electronically tolled (there are no cash toll booths) and fines are $40 - $110. This gives you all weekend to use the freeways and tunnels, which is the quickest way around. Especially from the airport you are best to stay on the freeway to take you where you want to go. If you have any questions or find yourself lost give me a call on 0414 442 209 anytime. Regards, ElTel |
