| MINI2 Master | HELP: Would you do this? Found a car on carsales in Sydney that I like. The seller wants me to transfer a deposit to his account without me even looking at the car, but having agreed on a final price. I am sure the car is fine, its almost new. But I am not sure if I should go ahead with it... Any suggestions? |

Offline | Why would you even consider doing this, is it customary in your country? Here it could be very difficult to regain your money if you didn't like the car and the seller decided to keep your deposit. |

| MINI2 Master | He claims that the car will be taken to Canterbury Mini Garage tomorrow if I don't decide by tonight. He wants a substantial amount to confirm my intentions to purchase, which is fair enough I guess. It seems as though he is on a tight schedule and is due to fly out of oz soon. Anyone near Kogarah kind enough to do a favour for me? A slab of your favourite beer is on offer. ![]() |

| Nil Time et Facte Recte | Dodgy?/ This sounds like a variation on an Ebay scam. Have you confirmed that the vehicle even exists? It is easy to put up photos on a website. If the buyer is adamant, offer to put the money in escrow...that way he is guaranteed to get it if you are happy. Otherwise, there shall be other MINI's. Cheers, Tony |

| MINI2 Master | I'm not going to be able to go ahead with it anymore anyway, just did some sums and Im falling a bit short. The car does exist, I have got the VIN and photo ID of the owner with his address on it and everything checks out ok. They don't want a dealer to take it and then on sell it for thousands more...If it is still around in mid November, I'd reconsider. This was the car.... Offline | 21blue, have you looked at a new one? I paid less than that for mine, and mine was brand new. The only difference being mine is a manual. If your prepared to wait 3 months for it to be built and delivered, I would definitely go with a new one. You can then spec it to your exact requirements. Life's fun in black and white |
