Hi,

The AROCA 6 hour race is on at Eastern Creek on the weekend of 10-11 November.

This year we have 2 teams of minis entered

Team 1 : Andrew Robinson, Mike Sherrin and David Ayres, with Mike and Dave coming down from Queensland for the event

Team 2 : Stu Jones, Trevor Keene and Ken Henry, with Ken coming down from Queensland.

Having 2 mini teams is going to be awesome, and should make for some friendly mini competition

The 6 hour race is a relay race for CAMS log booked race cars. Saturday is scrutineering and qualifying and the race runs for 6 hours on the Sunday starting at 10.

I have run with Stu Jones in the event twice before, and last year the mini team did well coming 6th outright and 4th on handicap out of 22 teams.

We need a few volunteers if possible (mainly for the Sunday) to help out with things like lap timing and pitboards, driver changeovers, etc. So if you feel like being part of the race teams give me a pm.

Hey Robbo,

The Vic Crew competed in the AROCA 6hr @ Winton this last weekend.
4th outright ! Beaten by the sly old dogs of the Regulartiy World.
We learn't a lot....

Better factor 2 than those finishing above us. Factor 1 not so good as we actually divided the driving equally, what a silly sportsmanlike thing to do....

I did see the results on the net, and was cheering for you guys

I don't know what you mean by factors

I think the NSW race may work under completely different principles. It is not regularity, but is an outright race (ie fastest cars win) , with a secondary handicap

I know last year we were in with a chance of winning handicap, or at least coming 2nd with 15 minutes to go, until someone went too fast on a couple of laps and blew our handicap

However, it was understandable as he was racing the team ahead of us for position on the road, and therefore for the lead

Winton event was a regularity trial. Each driver nominates a lap time and tries to hit it each lap,
go faster and you lose points, go slower you dont, come within 0.99 slower and you gain a point.
2nd factor is based on the spread of you lap times in seconds.

Fun, but no an outright race.

good luck guys with it, a bit far for me, GO KEN HENRYS TEAM, just look out for Ken, Frisk him for clubmini stickers, he seems to have a habbit of sticking them on race cars

Hi,

Just a brief update (more to come later).

On the handicap results,

Team Peak Mini (Stu Jones, Ken Henry and Trevor Keene) 1st place on handicap

Team Sherrin Mini (Michael Sherrin, David Ayers and Andrew Robinson) 3rd on handicap

Outright is a little confusing based upon the results they gave us, but I think Team Sherrin mini 11th and Team Peak mini 12th

Thanks for all the support from clubMINI NSW members who were there.

Thanks also to Robbo and Stu for welcoming me into the rarified air of Sydney MINI motorsport.

Pretty amazing 4 days - drive down Friday from Bris - qualify Saturday - compete Sunday - drive home Monday - oh, and sleep Tuesday.

Had a safe trip home - thanks.

See you all next year. As Robbo suggested, we might have to do it as a State of Origin next year. However, I am not sure how Team Cockroach MINI would look on the grid sheet

(Cane Toad Racing is not bad though.)

Great event guys, very clean racing and such a variety of cars! Would have been fairly scary in a Mini with some giant Sports Sedan behind you I should imagine!
