mini bonnet stripes

Just wondering.
When you purchase a new mini from a dealer.

Are the stripes they put on your bonnet a decal or are they spray painted on?

And is it the same for every design?

The one I want is the V shaped one where they both join into a block bit around the bonnet scoop then fan outwards...sort of like a V or a U.

So yeah that's my question to mini drivers here with bonnet stripes or designs.
Are they sprayed on or a decal?

Cause some decals are so good they almost seem sprayed on.

I think the stripes are 150 to buy, and another 150-200 in labour to fit them.

I did it myself. Easy job! Just need a spray bottle with some water and detergent! Took me 30 mins!

Why do you need detergent?
Wouldn't you just clean the bonnet really clean, then evenly put em on?
It's just a sticker right?

The detergent is so you can move the decals & position them correctly. Just the same as applying race #'s etc.

I got mine off ebay, landed from NZ, for less than 40 bucks. You can use any sort of detergent, its simply a lubricant to allow you to position the stripes. I've got an R50 to the absence of the S scoop really makes it look plain-jane. The car is silver with a black roof and the black stripes really do make it go faster... but I guess it comes down to what you like. As for paying hundreds at the dealer, I'm not a fan!

Yeh, I just don't know what I want... hehe
There's too many things you can have with your MINI not like all these other cars that don't have the option to have decals on your roof... etc etc

get a spray bottle, fill it with water, put about 10 or less drops of detergent in it, spray on bonnet, slide decals into place, squeeze bubbles out with squeegee type thing.

and if you're me, curse at the one hair that got caught under one of the stripes.

don't be afraid to use lots of detergent mix. spray it on the bonnet, spray it on the stripes, and keep it all as wet as possible until the stripes are in position, then squeeze it all out.

it's weird how they all use detergent.
i heard also people who apply window tints do u the same thing to get the air bubbles out.
what surprises me though is that it doesn't ruin the stickiness of the decal and it just slides off because of the detergent trapped underneath it.
