Offline | I hear your pain - picked up a puncture on my car on Friday! The runflat got me to work and during lunch went to the local tyre shop and they plugged it for me. So far so good! As long as the puncture lies within the tread pattern and not the sidewall of the tyre I believe plugging will work just fine. In any case I have a set of 18" wheels on order so there was no way I was going to fork out for the cost of a new unflat . |

Offline | I lost total pressure in my tyre and the only reason I knew something was wrong was because of the noise coming from the front end. I assumed it must have been a flat tyre, however, the warning indicator had not lit. So I pulled over and sure enough the tyre was visibly down. After another couple of minutes of driving the flat tyre warning indicator eventually came on .After the repair the warning indicator came on once and I reset the system. I assume this zeros the alarm for the new rpm's of each wheel, anyway I've had no problems since. Last edited by Darrin : Jan 6th, 2008 at 05:08 AM. Reason: missing "no" |

| tag, you're It | a runflat tyre is exact that, a run flat tyre. If it has been driven on whilst being flat, then the side walls of the tyre are weakened and stressed and would definetly need to be replaced. If however, you have not driven on the tyre while flat and the puncture is also not in the sidewall then the possibility of having the tyre plugged is feasable. Be aware that it would not be a good idea to travel at high speed on the repaired tyre though and you should consider a replacement or a new set of radial tyres which are better priced than runflats my 2c ![]() |

Offline | I damaged the front right tire last week hitting a local pothole that I swear would be visable on google earth. Small bulge on tire wall with a small split. I went to a local tire dealer and he rang Continental Tires (i don't understand why). They told him not to fit anything other than a run flat as they would be liable if a third party drove my car with a flat thinking the car had run flats and subsequently had an accident. I told him that was a pretty silly story and went and bought a pair of Toyos from his competitor for $220 each (non run flat). The quote for a Pirelli rf was $550. The guy I bought from said he had repaired a few run flats as long as they hadn't been driven on flat. Sort of contradictory in a way. ![]() |

Offline | Glad you controlled yourself there.. hehe ![]() Well I went to the local Goodyear and waited for like an hr b4 they even looked at my car... they then took off my wheel, pulled out the screw and stuck it in the water tank..... didn't plug it... the guy said i was lucky due to the fact of how short the screw was and that I had a fair bit of tread left on my tyres, after a fair bit of waiting around they ended up doing the job for nothing... I was lucky!!! ![]() He just said to keep an eye on it... but it should be right... |

Offline | Yeah, about half of the nails and screws I pull out of my tires haven't gone far enough in to cause a leak. When they do, I usually plug them myself, or have a shop plug them. |
