Power Fold Mirrors

Hi everyone,

we are looking at ordering a new Cooper S to replace the current one!!

Has anybody here ordered the Electric Folding mirrors?

What I want to know is do they fold together? separately? automatically? ignition on/off?

Can you, for example, fold one mirror and keep driving?

I know this sounds strange but what I want to be able to do is just fold one mirror and drive into my garage.

Thanks. Carl

Power Fold Mirrors??

I don't remember seeing that on the list when I ordered mine...

But I would assume that it would be a button that folds the mirrors together.

It's very unlikely they you could get them to fold seperately.

Both fold together; when you turn the adjustment knob past either selection point.

Were the power folding mirrors ever available for the R53 in Australia?

Not sure. Definitely not an option when I ordered my R50, but then again things like DSC, JCW kit, the Cooper S, different interior dash colours, wing mirror caps, rear view mirror caps, roof decals etc also weren't available back then!
[Edit]But the folding mirrors were supposedly available from day 1 in Europe.

The only time I have seen foldig mirrors on an R53 in Aus was when I did MINI Driver training back in 2005. One of the cars they had there on the day had the folding mirrors fitted. Gave us something to do when we were sitting in the car waiting for our turn - Mirrors go in; mirrors go out; mirrors go in; mirrors go out

We have folding mirrors on the R53, ordered them for something to do.
Would be much better if they folded automatically when you turned the ignition off (bottom preselected).
Good for in a single car garage and getting the bins past

Hi Blacky,
Did you order them from BMW and did they do the install?
If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost?
We have a super narrow driveway and power folding mirrors would make my life somewhat easier!
Cheers

Mine came as a pre-build option. I can't remember the cost. There's a small button next to the mirror adjust knob which either folds both in or both out. You can't manually move either. It says you can only do it below certain speeds but mine seem to work at a far clip (when I've forgotten to unfold them). They are also heated, so don't fog up and seem to repel dirt pretty well (which is good as I can't see much out the rear window of the cabrio!).

Sounds familiar. When I ordered mine it was mentioned it came as part of a pack (folding / heated mirrors), just like the lighting pack gives you both the map lights / vanity lights, and the smokers pack gives you the ash tray and front + rear 12v sockets.

Hey mike are you saying you need the alarm to get automatic fold?
I already have OEM folding mirrors but would luv them to fold when locking and unlocking.
Thanks
