Just thought I would ask what type of tint you all had.
My last MINI had Formula 1 tint on it from Tint a Car which I was happy with, but thought I would see if I should think about something different for the Clubman.
What do you reckon?

I have darkest legal, some sort of MEP film from memory (Centennium IIRC), with a 10 year guarantee. It's still looking good almost 4 years on.

I had mine done by the MINI dealer prior to collection. Very happy with it. 8 months on and no problems with it. My insurance is with BMW, so I thought it would be easiest in terms of getting replacement glass re-tinted should the inevitable happen.

Tint - A - Car in Mornington want $420 for Formula 1, when I had my R53 done I got a deal through Tint-A-Car in Doncaster thanks to ClubMINI where it cost me $230 so I think I will give them a bell, it is worth the drive to save $190.
Another local mob want $350 so I will keep looking.

Hey All,

Just saw your discussion on Tint I just ordered my Cooper S Clubman on Monday and when I asked the dealer about window tinting he advised me not to get tint due to the possible effects on the sensors and antennas in the windows

I have had tint on all my cars with no problems noted they probably haven't been as high tech as the mini. Have you guys experienced any problems/issues related to your tint?

My mini came with super black tint from the dealers - and ive had no problems!

Not Australian, but I thought you might like to see my Clubman with the highest legal tint here in Nevada:

The windows are 65% and the back is 50%.

I'm not sure what sensors he is talking about. I thought the only sensors are in the front windscreen, and you wouldn't be tinting that anyway.

I had mine done by the dealer, so I'm sure it must be ok.

whoa, that's dark. Maximum legal tint in NSW is 35%...

Yes, the rain sensors are in the front and that is illegal to tint here. The radio antenna has no problems, it's in the rear side window on the clubbie.

If you mean the amount of light blocked, that is what my front windows are rated. I posted the amount of light passed, 65%.

Oh.. then yours are the same as mine: 35% VLT.

April that looks fantastic....I had mine done at darkest legal (35%)....too ashamed to post pics at the moment as the car is filthy and it is raining so no point in washing it.
Although I had to get the drivers door redone this morning, as a very small piece at the top had come away due to the film not being dried properly when fitted and moving when the window 'auto closed'.

Thanks Guys after reading (and seeing) your experiences with Tint it has just confirmed to me that the tint will be a must once the pride and joy is delivered. I did have serious doubts about what the dealer had said, it just didn't make any sense to me!!!

I 'll be very interested to here how your tint goes on your Clubman P.D.U.
