Dave, sorry for the late reply. have had uni exams and been a little preoccupied. good to hear the problem was solved, but pity it wasnt just a simple cracked hose. hope it wasnt too expensive.

Interestingly, during the week one of the current affairs shows reviewed the annual Dog & Lemon Guide. The Peugeot 206 with 5sp manual (rumored to be the same design as the Midlands 5sp in the 2001 - 2004 Mini Cooper) are reporting the same reliability issues.

had a look at some rebuild guides for the pug and can confirm that the gearbox looks very similar. looks like they share our pain
