MINI Oil

HI Everyone,

sorry if this is a dumb girly moment.

But what oil should I be putting in my MCS?

Supercheap have an offer on 5W-30 Castrol Edge for $29.00......is this what I need? It seems like a good offer to me......I see they use 0W-30 in the UK, but is the 5W better for this climate?

Thanks in advance

Roo

You want Castrol Edge but check that it has BMW LL01 approval listed on the back label.
I don't know about Edge 5W-30 but Edge 0W-40 is certainly approved, but it is usually a bit more than $29.00

I use Mobil 1 0W-40 and yeah, it costs a bit more than the Castrol stuff mentioned in post #1.

Thanks.

Had a look on the castrol site.....seems 0W-40 and 5w-30 are recommended.

I put 5w-30 in last time.....so seems like a bargin!

Australia

This thread popped up at the right time for me, Oil Change time on my '02 MCS.

Where are people getting their Oil Filters from and what brand are you buying?

I put 5w 30 castrol edge in the minster last oil change and it seems to be working a treat so far.
I brought an original mini filter from the local dealer, it wasn't too expensive.

Not sure of the costs, but I'd just get one from your local MINI dealer.

I've just checked the receipt. $21.07 for a genuine mini filter from the dealer.

I can't see how it could be worth stuffing around looking for an aftermarket filter and risking an engine for a max $10 saving.
