Offline | Stu Jones racing at the Nürburgring 24 hour this weekend Many of you will know the name Stu Jones, many of you may not know he is currently tucked away in a warm bed in Adenau, the small village inside the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Stu is there racing with the Osborne Motorsports team in a Toyota Corolla, along with Colin Osborne and Simon Evans. I'd like to say their experience to date has been trouble free, but sadly not. They have already suffered the very late arrival of their car and in second qualifying last night their engine blew. Check out my articles on AUSringers.com for more detail and ongoing updates. The race starts at 11pm tonight (AEST) and finishes at 11pm Sunday. ![]() Cheers Liam |

Offline | I just had a chat with Stu on the phone and he filled me in on all the details. He was driving when the accident happened and one of the rotors exploded and the wheel locked up and pushed him into the armco at around the same section of track that Niki Lauda had his famous accident. The impact ripped out the struts and the car had to be taken back to the pits on a flatbed. Other than pride, he was unhurt, which is good to hear. Overall though, Stu had a great time and he said to me he has 'unfinished business' and wants to go back next year! I'll get a full update on AUSringers later tonight. ![]() Cheers Liam |
