Offline | Dilemma Help!! Ok I was a Mini Cooper S driver (my first car was a 2003 Mini Cooper S) - however so many problems occurred with that car, far too many! Plus the cost of Tyres and Servicing! However since then I have owned a Mazda MX5 2004 (turbo) - not all that fast but grin factor of 10/10. Unfortunately I sold this car upon a move to Japan - I lived there for a year now I am back home and bought a Mazda RX8 about 6 months ago - holy crap!! Fuel consumption sucks - servicing costs sucks (every 5000klms). I have made bad choices however I am in the process of rectifying this. I have narrowed my search down to two cars and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Because I still owe a substantial amount of money on my current car I can only do so much. So here it is: 1. 2004 Mini Cooper S Chili (42000) klms - $27995. 2. Mazda 3 SP23 2005 (25000) klms - 26990. Where would you go? Im trying to reduce costs i.e fuel, etc. Is the 2004 Mini Cooper S economical? how many Klms per tank will I get? My RX8 gets a whole 250 - 300 klms haha! Im looking forward to hearing your repsonse. Todd. |

| Cruising In The Minge | Personally I think you will find the advice fairly biased on a MINI forum lol. In terms of reliability I have never had a drama with my 03 JCW, tyres same as any car if you ditch the run flats for a normal performance tyre and service costs less than other vehicles I have owned eg supras. Fuel consumption I get minimum 500kms around town, closer to the 600km mark and on a long country drive I have got close to 1000kms out of a tank. Anyone that knows me will testify to the fact I dont drive like a grandad either! Buy the MINI, you know you want to... ![]() 2002 PS/PS JCW MC 1970 BRG/W MK2 Morris Cooper S |

Offline | The SP23 is really sensible, cheap to insure, service and maintain. It is very practical, well made and does everything well. It is also incredibly boring! We have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer VRX (probably the main competitor to the SP23). All I can say is that thank god our other car is an MCS! |
