Football is the round ball kind cause you kick it with your foot only. Rugby League, Rugby Union and AFL are mostly played with the hands. It should be called Hand Ball!! Plus you can't get rich from League, Union or AFL. You don't see any players on $50,000,000 a year unlike Beckham!! Man AFL isn't even recognized overseas!! Soccer or Football, should I say, is the only game you guys need to know!!
You might as well be good at it, as australians are the only ones that play it!!! No one else can understand it How much skill do you need to play stacks on, Kick a ball and puch it with your fists!!
Man their is just no skill in AFL, you even get a second set of posts to score cause they can't kick it through 1!! They also get to hold the ball with their hands so they can take aim. It takes skill to kick the ball off the ground when it is rolling!!
Thanks to all my Australian friends for adding to this thread.
I didn't intend to set off a civil war, but it sure was entertaining to watch
I didn't want to prejudice the poll (now at 16 to 7) but i thought you all meant AFL when mentioned "footy" but an office-mate (who went to school briefly in NSW) insisted it was "Rugby League". Now I see there is no one answer.
I've only played "Rugby Union" but both League and AFL look like fine games to me.
So how about we all give a shout out and agree: FOOTY RULES!!!
You know, it's funny, if it is so damn easy to kick a ball then how come in the rugby codes you're lucky to have two players in a team that can do it well. I know I am clearly biased, but I reckon it is abundantly clear that Aussie Rules demands the most skills from its players. Soccer would be next and then the rugby codes. There have been plenty of great goals scored off the ground in Aussie Rules. In fact, with the exception of throwing, Australian Rules football pretty has aspects of skills required that are found in almost all other football codes. Plus the fact it is a 360° game with no basic ram into each other simple mindedness makes it a pretty good game to play and watch. It's a great social game as on the weekend, like soccer, one football can entertain groups from 2 - however many. Two grown men throwing a ball to each other in rugby style is just pretty daft really. And in Aussie Rules there's no bum sniffing or dry rooting the ground.
Spy, when you see all this, do you start to understand why the whole nation went completely psycho when we were robbed a place in the world cup semis? We can't even decide what football is, so to go within a mickey hair of beating Italy, was pretty amazing for us.
I love Warsaw. Where else can you hug a pole?
