I was enquiring just about the skirts. This guy in the UK reckons the shipping issue is the volume. If they were stacked into eachother then overall shipping cost would be kept right down.

In terms of cost it's less than $500 for a pair. Versus $800US a pair for JCW. And something like $2,300 to buy them from the dealer in Oz.

So the question is, who would pony up? I definately would. I mean the shipping can't be *that* much to take it into this sort of territory. It's probably $400 all told or something.

+1 if the price is reasonable. Good work Lurks.

Any updates?

My gf went to the X6 launch and was talking to one of the MINI dealers - to cut a long story short, he said that he could get discounted MINI parts from the UK. I'm still waiting on some prices, but will let you guys know!

Sounds great, might pick up a pair of aero skirts if the price is decent.

Ninja edit: ask if they can get their hands on some E30 M-tech kit as well...not that I am getting my hopes up.

Based on 5 of the after-market skirts I linked earlier.

£225 x 4 = 2,427.16
duty 5% = $121.36
£200 shipping = $431.39
sub total = 2979.91
gst 10% = 297.99
grand total: $3277.90

$655.58 each

These wouldn't be painted. So they'd need painting. BMW dealership price on getting JCW side skirts, painting and fitting was about $2,600.

Under AUD$700.00 landed for a pair? Count me in! Where do I sign?

Great job Lurks.

Price is dependent on getting 5 obviously, otherwise we're paying more for shipping. So I'll leave it awhile see if anyone else wakes up, if not we can look at what it costs just for two sets.

If the landed price is under 1K AUD, then I am most probably still interested. Thanks mate.

PS. There is also a chance for us to import all 5 and selling it. I am quite sure we will have no problems doing it.

Hi Guys,

been keeping an eye on this thread as I would love someJCW side skirts for my R56, so am interested to see how you go with this. Since it looks like you are now leaning towards the non oem option i will probably not participate in the group buy though.

I asked my local MINI garage in Brisbane for a price on just the side skirts and they ended up being about $2500 by the time they were painted and fitted. But if I ordered the full kit (skirts + front and rear bumpers) the price would only be $3500 fully painted and fitted to the car. Apparently if they order just the skirts they pay way more for them than if they are ordered as part of a full kit. I assume that if this is the case in Australia it would probably be the same situation in the UK. Hence it may be better value for money to get pricing on "full" JCW kits rather than just the skirts???

Just thought I would mention this as it has changed my mind on just getting the sills. I think if I'm going to do it I will pay the extra $1000 and get the full kit as it ends up being better value I think.

Well, two things there. Yeah if you get just the skirts they order every little thing as a spare part rather than a kit. Hence the ridiculous cost. I know as I sat there and watched them use their god-aweful retro computer system to work out a price.

The actual JCW skirts are about $800 in the US but we can't get them to ship to Australia. The third-party stuff linked actually looks the same and is proper ABS too.

But I think I speak for most of us regarding the R56 aero kit in saying that the bumper and the scoop just aren't very attractive. I don't even see this as a slight value booster at all, I simply wouldn't put that stuff on my car. Oh and shipping of multiple entire JCW aero kits? I shudder to think. It's pretty much impractical.

Incidentally the full third party kit, of which these skirts are a part, is really quite good looking. The first third party one I think I've seen that is?

Cool, just thought I would mention this as I wasn't sure if you guys were aware of the price difference between the full kit and just the skirts. I understand what you are saying too about not liking the front or rear bars - personal preference & all that. Must admit it is a very agressive looking rear bar and the first time I saw it reminded me of a Ford XR5 Turbo

Over time it has grown on me though and I now don't mind the front and rear bars so much. Also, I figure that if I get the front and rear bars I will try and source some extra "bits" to supplement them from the MINI Challenge cars. The front splitter and rear diffusers they use on the R56 Challenge cars will fit straight to the JCW kit and should provide some effective aerodynamics for those track days

Hahaha ... it's funny 'cause its true.

There are only 10ths of seconds between us on the track usually, so every little bit helps

Anyway, haven't heard back from the dealer that said he could get things cheaper from the UK. So...

I found these on ebay:

Geniune Brand New BMW MINI JCW Side Skirts R56 on eBay, also Body Modifications, Exterior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-Oct-08 17:21:30 BST)

They come in around 800 (without shipping and painting)

I've emailed the seller because I'm interested in this:

Geniune BMW MINI JCW John Cooper Works Bodykit R53 on eBay, also Body Modifications, Exterior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 05-Oct-08 17:48:32 BST)

Just waiting on a price for shipping (if they even do?!)

long live the supercharger
